  8. Ashby, Awesome pics...I'd say, you captured the beauty of the mountains. Great shots!
  9. Mainly Mustads, I use other brands but I prefer Mustads.
  10. Mike, I'd go fish your flies and let the fish be the judge of it. I like the hackle to be about 1-1/2 the gap of the hook. Another suggestion is to clip off the bottom of the hackle and the fly will sit in the film of the water.
  11. Your flies look great and I like the way you use CDC in your flies. What did you use for the under-body? Is it silver tinsel? Again, great job!
  12. Your wings look great and you did a great job on the step-by step instructions. I've been using Raffia for the wings on some of my caddis patterns. I've always cut the shape of the wings with scissors, I'll have to try using the wing burners. Thanks for sharing this.
  13. Looks like a great fly and great step-by-step instructions. Thanks for sharing!
  14. There is no rule to this just matter of preference of the tyer. Typically if you whip finish there is no need to use head cement. If you finish off any of your flies with a half - hitch, IMHO! I suggest using head cement.
  15. Super job! nicely done...go catch fish with it.
  16. WOW! what a super job, great photos of the fly.
  17. I've caught shad on Sulphur drys size 18. Rainbows were rising and so were the shad. I used fast action 9ft 5wt and 6x tippet.
  18. Thanks Roy, I'll have to check out my local fly shops and also check with sponsor of this forum - J. Stockard.
  19. Roy, Over the years, I have a collected a bunch of hackle pliers myself...I like the one on the far left, is the other end a half hitch tool...also where can I purchase it? My favorite hackle plies is electrical tester clip, which you can get at Radio Shack. I believe you get 2 in a pack. Thanks for sharing.
  20. Fez, thanks for sharing. Great job! on the tye and step-by-step along with pictures. What camera did you use? Again, super job!!!
