Poopdeck,

That rusty spinner is a beauty!  Love the wing design . . .

Regards

Thank you. I’m going to keep working on them. I find it amazing how less better a flies looks in a picture.

Titanic Caddis, tan

Hook: Mustad 94850, #12

Thread: Uni-Thread, 8/0, tan

Body: Parachute post foam, large, white-colored tan with Copic Marker (segmented by using thread as a rib)

Underwing: Krystal Flash Midge, tan

Unlike the Cruise liner Titanic, this fly will float forever. By using smaller foam body material this fly can easily be downsized to #16 and #18.

Last of the tricos, for now anyways. This one is Ed Engle's Drowned Trico Spinner, using what I have available (differences noted). Ed says your thorax "can always be bigger" on this one, but I think mine probably did get too big and shortened my abdomen. That extra 0.5 mm sure does make a big difference visually on a 3.5 mm body.... This version is from his video, a slight variation from Tying Small Flies (yes, flyflinger, one of the great "modern" fly books, but I'm guessing his personality comes across on the video true to form, seems like a great guy).

OI000026.thumb.jpg.6d02042b3252760d45a6e9a204468875.jpg

Hook - TMC 2487 (EE uses 2488H, which is much heavier but I'm gonna have to make do with my fine wire version)

Thread - Gordon Griffiths 14/0 brown (EE uses a black thread)

Tails - Three dun Microfibbits, split with thread

Abdomen - Small black Ultrawire

Wing - Aunt Lydia's white (EE uses Soap Wing Fiber,  but "any white polyester will do")

Thorax Black beaver dubbing (EE uses rabbit)

Nice array of Tricos Chug!

Thanks! Unfortunately, in three days of getting to the river at dawn, not a Trico in sight, not a nibble on any of those. Only thing that worked was a streamer, ... Thank g-d for streamers. Nice big rainbow, broke a bad skunk
