First hackle: Grouse wing covert

Second hackle: Grizzly cock, dyed dark dun

Tail: Grizzly cock barbs, dyed dark dun

Body: Mole, dyed brown

Wooly buggers, size 6 on a 3x hook, olive with rootbeer flash in the tail and crystal chenille (in olive) for the body. Getting ready for smallmouth season.

Body: Seal's fur (or substitute), claret, in split thread - sparse

Wing: Polar fox guard hair, white - sparse

Collar: Polar fox guard hair, white, in split thread - sparse

Head: Seal's fur (or substitute), claret, in split thread - sparse

Bruce...impressive, impressive, impressive! No wonder you were invited into the swap.

 

Jan, bet that'll catch just about anything that swims. One recommendation: would it be possible to leave your fly in your vise or clamped in a pair of hemostats, stand a background behind it (a length of appropriate colored poster board would work) and take your pictures? I'd love to be able to see your work a bit more closer and see all the detail. :rolleyes: Your flies always look excellent!
