Piker20 0 Report post Posted July 16, 2014 Thats a lovely pattern PT. My 8 year old tied this today. I had to help her start the thread but then all her. Think it would hook something too.

Crackaig 0 Report post Posted July 16, 2014 Nice Colin. If you want coloured wire bring me empty spools! Back to tying Mongolian Midges. Quite simple Grizzle Paraloop hackle over a dubbed olive body. Simple that is until you do them on a size 20! Cheers, C.
thursthouse 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2014 On my bench I have a pot for odds and ends I tie up, usually to explain a technique or see if an idea will work. I had a rummage through it today There were a couple of odd hooks, so I tied something on them. The result is... Odds and Ends_0006.jpg Now back to tying by the dozen. Cheers, C. I want everyone of these - beautiful looking flies!

Wavey1988 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2014 Some simple little dry flies on size 17 TMC103bl hooks. Splashed out on my first Metz cape, and the difference in use, compared to the hackle I had been using is massive (Sorry about the dodgy photo quality)

Splashed out on my first Metz cape, and the difference in use, compared to the hackle I had been using is massive (Sorry about the dodgy photo quality) Nice looking fly indeed! I guess I am going to have to break down and purchase me one of those nice Metz capes and stop using the cheap crap I have purchased off of Ebay...LOL...When one is starting out you don't know any better. Wavey1988 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2014 Thanks add! I can get a couple flies off one feather, usually. But it was a bit of a revelation for me. I tended to shy away from tying dries because of the hackle lol

I tended to shy away from tying dries because of the hackle lol I don't mind tying hackles....I'm sure the better quality ones are MUCH better than the cheapy ones. They look more sparse and more defined than the cheap ones I am using...LOL...Like the ole saying "You get what you pay for" !!!
