August flies from the bench

Recommended Posts

Flytyer, now you have me heading for the vise to do some new soft hackles patterned after that shot. I thought I had every type of soft hackle possible but never thought of combining wire wrap and wire ribbing for body. Used both for bodies but never combined. Probably just use silk thread for body. What I usually do.I love this thread for all the new thoughts put in my mind. Here's a couple I've been working on if they come thru okay. Wally Wings. From back to front shows some improvement.

Vicrider, you are defiantly getting there with the Wally wings. Nicely done. When you peal the wings try pulling the remaining stem back and tying that down behind the wing before trimming it out.

Cheers,

C.

Glass Scud
An easier version of the Latex Scud to tie.
Curved hook, no V-Rib hump and no Pott's Weave for the legs.

Tying a bunch for my buddies headed for the 'Horn.
