Fifty Fly Project

Recommended Posts

Gooseneck Chironomid, Hermann Fischer, 2005

The recipe calls for mineral oil inside the tubing, I used stretch magic and skipped the oil.

Bionic Bug, Stu Tripney, 2006.

I haven't fished it, but with the exception of subbing flor egg yarn as an indicator, I tied it as they called for it.

I didn't realize how big this project was until I looked at all your pictures.

Nice work, thanks for posting.

Fshng2, thanks. While I was posting them I had flashbacks to tying them. I felt like I was making progress, only to see that I was only at number 20. Learned a lot, though.

Getting ready for the last phase of the project. I test fired mounting on flies I tied for my Gkids. Having read many of the online posts and all of those suggested by folks on this forum I mounted nine flies. I used "bugle" beads to provided stand off from the background. I found these to give me the depth I wanted, but if off by just a little would sag when the frame was vertical. I remounted with smaller rounder 6mm beads and had better success. Making preparation now to tackle the 50.
