Philly 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2021 These are three of my most productive bluegill/panfish flies. The top picture is my best producer. I used a soft foam spider body as the template. Middle are floating mop flies, I treat the mop pieces with floatant. Bottom: Left side, Tony's Froggie, my second best pattern. Right side: Bluegill Bug(?) I didn't have much luck with them this year Yellow is the most productive color, followed by white

robow7 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2021 Also, a friend of mine who used to target very large bluegill swore by a large Prince Nymph in size 10 or 8.

DOUG STOUT 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2021 I have a lot of luck with a hopper dropper rig. Simple hopper on top , with either a Killer caddis (in red or green beads) or a San Juan worm below. Now what Bluegill/ Sunfish wouldn't eat a San Juan worm for crying out loud. It works really well for me. Now the hopper by it self works well too of course, but some times those sunfish that come to look but not eat will nail that little morsel dangling below the top fly. (Note: photo's are not mine but are from the web.)
