tjm 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2019 Was actually on a postcard a long time before internet iirc. Along with a couple guys carrying out hoppers on a pole and the well known jackalopes. There was also the spud that was a wagon load for a green tractor and another that filled a flatcar. Them post depression era photographers had wild imaginations and could do tricks with film. fshng2 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2019 Hunting was hot and heavy around Miles City once the word got out. However With no imposed bag limit the grasshoppers were soon to be doomed.
mikechell 0 Report post Posted July 13, 2022 The above grasshopper pictures are funny. BUT ... this Lubber was on our back door. Second one we've seen and killed. For scale, from the tip of my index finger to the skin at the thumb joint is just shy of 6". Most animals won't eat them, since they accumulate foul tasting chemicals from the plants they eat. Shrikes will kill them, impale them on a spike/thorn and wait a few days for them to "age" ... then eat them.

Swamp Fly 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2022 They are a bit surreal aren't they? The sub-adults are black with a few yellow pin stripes, they look like something from a demon's garden. Swamp

mikechell 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2022 Never tried fishing with one. I don't have any hooks large enough to tie a mimic, either!
