  1. Jimmy; I didn't know you had Peacocks in Singapore
  2. Nice job. Flip would be proud of you.
  3. Great job!!! I have really enjoyed the Beatty's work over the years and the interview was super.
  4. That is really cool Jimmy. Over here in the southeast USA we call them Ballyhoo or Balao and rig them for offshore fishing big critters.
  5. Al, nothing but wishes for a complete recovery and a speedy return to tying. My brother in law is going under the knife for his hands also but he is so bad they will have to lock his thumbs in one position and thats it. bummer.
  6. I too tie on a Danvise and use the rotary more all the time, especially since I got the video from Al Beatty. Can't beat the vise for price and simplicity of operation.
  7. Good luck, it's the best thing you can do for yourself and not just monetarily. Drink lots of water and whenever you get the urge go for a walk, get out of the easy environment. Use the gum or the patch, much cheaper in the long run and you will feel much better.
  8. "Orvis Guide to Beginning Fly Tying". Covers everything you need to start and reference
  9. Great job as always, your hard work and dedication to the site are to applauded and appreciated.
  10. Chris welcome to a great place. Nice people and a lot of great information.
  11. Outstanding. You go Girl. I just gave my old Thompson to my granddaughter (8) and starting her along the road to ruin.
  12. Looks very good, just shorten up the wing and tail like said above and you've got it.
  13. Thanks for the reply and look forward to the feature when available. You do a great job, I really enjoy the site.
  14. Smallie - I screwed up a bookmark selection and inadvertantly did a selection twice (nothing says already bookmarked if you hit it again). Then thinking I could unbookmark I hit it again. Needless to say my bookmarks are loaded with three of the same fly. How can I correct this problem? Thanks for a fantastic and interactive site. Mike
  15. I too think it looks great. Is there a section for sponsors? There used to be BT"s and a few others up there, are they anywhere to be found now?
  16. Daryn - I also made my own with soft baskets etc. and wasn't really happy so bought one and be done with it. Look at Mr. Whitebait for your alewife, could be a good starting point, possibly with a change of color on the flank or top.

    Happy Birtday

May you all live long and prosper. Happy Birthday ya'll.
  18. The cam will work in either direction, just what you feel comfortable. I had it set to the front while I was learning how to use it but thought it was awkward being out there so moved it to the back. If you take it apart you'll see that it can only go thosew two ways so it's what you feel comfortable with.
  19. Nice job Daryn, should work well, love the colors. Meant to tell I really like the self portrait in your avatar.
  20. Good looking fly. Easy and I'd bet very effective.
  21. Good looking fly and tye. Great use of the hook. Don't worry about the english, I'm sure very few of us could do as well in your home language. Just keep tying, a picture is worth a thousand words.
  22. Softex, just dip it, drip it and turn it. Also Devcon 5 Minute, all depends on the fly.
  23. The cam lever should be facing away from you. Set it halfway towards the jaw then use the knurled knob nearest the jaw to snug up the hook in the vise. The hook will still be able to be moved. The last is to set the cam parallel with the jaw and the hook is set and won't move and is ready to tie. If you don't have contact Al Beatty at BT's (on the main header ) and order the tutorial on full rotary tying. This tape (also available in dvd) is really great and will help you get the most from the vise. I have been using one for 2-3 years and never got the full potential from ther vise until I got the DVD.
