Flies from the following tiers were unmarked as to the fly name. Would these tiers be so kind as to provide the names of the pattern they tied? Thanks! 1 - vicrider 3 - Stabgnid 5 - John 1986 11 - Sandan

By the way, would it be possible to list the fly pattern name next to each tyer’s name in the first post? Many of the flies I received did not have the fly name printed on the toe tag, so I don’t know what they are.

My flies arrived today. Thanks to Kim and all the other tiers!

Kapok Dubbing - can I use regular floatant?
gadabout replied to Shmang's topic in The Fly Tying Bench
I’ve only started using kapok recently, but I like it quite a bit. It is very easy to dub with. When it comes to floating a dry fly, I use all the help I can get. Starting with the right choice of material, I like treat the flies with Water Shed after they come off the vise, then apply Loon Aquel floatant at the stream. -
Hi Kim, I believe you have received my flies, but it’s not shown as such in the list. :)

No, not really. I just drop it in a bin meant for leaving packages after hours. How could that bin even exist if you had to make a declaration for every package?
-
This rule is news to me. I’ve shipped many packages by dropping them in a bin at the post office. I never had to make a declaration of any kind.

Flies sent.

Thanks Kim. I’m going with Warden’s Worry.

Agreed. I’ve had no trouble with JStockard, and was going to place my order with them, except that I needed a couple of items that they didn’t stock.
-
I’m in! Pattern to be chosen later.

Has anybody experienced difficulties in getting online fly tying materials orders filled? I made orders to two different suppliers over two weeks ago. The order status on both of these show up as “processing”. One of the suppliers called a couple of days after I placed the order and told me that of the six items in my order, only one of them was not on back order. Kind of pathetic, I think. Their website software should have told me that when I placed the order.

Thanks!

Anybody have a model number for a 2X short dry fly hook? Equivalent to a Mustad 94838.

The only scraps I save are wood duck. I use the leftover fibers for tails and wing cases on nymphs. There’s a dry fly I tie called The Spirit of Pittsford Mills. It uses the downy fluff from a wood duck feather, so I keep the scraps for that fly as well. I just put the scraps in a small ziplock bag.

Ditto. Got mine yesterday. -
Maybe a tad better:

Well here’s my amateurish first attempt at this.

One thing I forgot to mention is that Vince used a Golden Pheasant breast feather (red) for the tail. I have some on order. When I get it, I will give it a shot.
-
Well I finally was able to dig out the interview. Sounds like he added a topping (presumably golden pheasant crest), and cheeks of blue chatterer with jungle cock. Also, he changed the body to yellow seal’s fur with silver ribbing.
-
I’ll have to look for the interview, but if i remember correctly, it was more than just a hook change.

In a taped interview, Vince Marinaro mentioned that he adapted the Tomah Joe wet fly into an Atlantic Salmon pattern. Does anyone know what his adaptation was?
