  1. Why would you even post something like this on here? Really? You don't even have anything right. Language education requirements are set by the state that you live in. Who cares what the President calls himself? If you don't think he should be called that, where is the law saying you have to call him that? Call him whatever the heck you want! And where I live, students are required to take a foreign language. Students cant even go to certain colleges if they don't take two years of it. Do you know how to speak two or three languages? Fluently? If we were arrogant and not willing to understand cultures, why is America consistently pumping around 50 billion dollars a year to other countries with different cultures than ours? If we were not willing to understand other cultures and were so arrogant, why would we want to help countries and cultures like that? I think you have the word pride and arrogance confused. Seriously, if you think that about the people that live in America, leave. I can almost guarantee that I'm less than half the age you are, and you are acting half the age I am. I think you could do something better with your time then to start a conversation in which YOU KNEW would cause problems. No hard feelings. Matt
  2. could someone tell me what that yellow feather is? im looking to get some but I have nooooo idea what it is because I do not do a lot of classic patterns
  3. im gunna stick with shoebop on this one. buying multiple packages are not only affordable, but you can get a variety of colors as well. im guessing the person who lead you to buy a whole skin was a fly shop worker.
  4. I would use ultra chenille or vernille. its really fine stuff perfect for patterns like that
  5. Charlie is a great guy. ive ordered his stuff a few times. just like mentioned, it is like talking to a old friend when you talk to him on the phone. I would also suggest his tailing packs and other products that he has available. Im kind of a traditionalist when it comes to utilizing as much as possible, and Charlie does a great job trying to utilize all the feathers of the bird. my two cents Matt
  6. Well executed. very nice and clean. great job Matt
  7. good quality hair, and minimize thread wraps as much as possible. thread wraps limits the room you have for packing. and PACK IT TIGHT Matt
  8. ive only been tying for five years and ive heard of them and use them heavily. maybe flytire isnt in the correct area...
  9. i would work on making your wing tips a litle more stacked... just looks a little messy... other than that, looks good!!!
  10. Yes I would say a combination of crowding the eye and too large of thread. Use 70 denier and leave yourself some space. This will give you a better looking fly.
  11. im 16 and sell at a very well known fly shop. i started when i was 12, selling them to a bait shop. the main thing i will emphasize here is: DONT PUT YOUR FLIES ON CONSIGNMENT over the years, the bait shop i tied for switched owners many times. in the process, my flies were moved, put away, sometimes lost. sometimes i would come in and count the inventory and find that i "sold" a number of flies. the owner would then tell me that he doesnt have anything written down about selling any of my flies. he never paid me. my suggestion is to make sure your flies are good enough to sell to a professional fly fisherman, and then find a well respected fly shop with an owner that fully appreciates the art of fly tying and fly fishing. they will be the people to buy your flies up front(if they know the flies are good enough to sell). Make sure they are good.another suggestion is to buy a selection of flies and tie some of your own models of that fly and see how that compares. fly shops most likely will not want your originals. rather, they will want their popular flies duplicated and produced in NUMBERS. let me know if you have any other questions. Matt
  12. what do you mean by "burnish"? Matt
  13. i will be changing my material to squirell.
  14. i thought someone would say that. thanks for the input. Matt
  15. nice work!! i also agree that that all feathers on a game bird are way under utilized. Matt
  16. i think the real test would be to fish the patterns with the died materials and see how long it takes to fade, rather than test them by the colors it gives you. great colors, dont get me wrong, but i would rather have a decent color that lasts forever than a really great color that lasts a few days of fishing. let us know how long they last!!!! Matt
  17. i kind of thought about getting one for small copper wire, and fine body materials. looks like itll work great!! Matt
  18. i tried my hand at some floss bodied wets last night. how do you keep the fibers of the floss together when you wrap the floss? and also, how do you keep the floss from fraying when you are wrapping? maybe these are stupid questions... thanks Matt
