  1. You know tc the only fly I've tied with a jig hook is a slump buster. But I like this fly very much and plan on tying some. I like the variant concept and all its possibilities like even an all black stonefly? By the way why is olive dun your favorite color thread right now?
  2. Thanks mike, anchovies, in august the rhode island coast is loaded with them, brings the speedsters in.
  3. Gettin ready for the bonito and albacore.
  4. Chia I can relate, great video look forward to the next.
  5. Absolutely, Gary; I use different types of indicators, including floating and in-line. I also like the leader material that is high-vis (and sometimes two colors), which makes it nice to see in shallow-water situations. Do you use indicators much? TC Just in certain situations, water conditions that I consider them useful, but no not much.
  6. I think I'll call it sparkle and green hackle.
  7. Fish for Life a lot of great tips above, some not so great. Probably more to come. My .02 like I used to tell the kids in LL ( after they had heard about fulcrums, bat weight, weight distribution,) just keep your eye on the ball and hit it. Likewise, you can do it, calm down no buck fever, stay focused and get that fish to the net or to the hand.
  8. Great video, very informative I will look for more, was that spotted bay bass normal size or was it a young one?
  9. Hi Tim, I am curious do you ever use a strike indicator above these multiple fly set ups? Thanks Gary

    Mc. Bunker Fly

Very nice, SC15 1/0 1 of my favorite hooks, what is the material you are using?
  11. McFly here a couple of deerhair deceivers, white is a great color but I also carry a couple of sharpies so I can match the color of the bait in the water.
  12. No I meant what I wrote McFly sparse deerhair moves well in saltwater and catches stripers. Bob Popovics wrote a book named Popovics Fleyes, your fly reminded me of the deerhair deceiver, Ill see if I can find one and post it.
  13. I fish for stripers in new england from shore, I use a similar fly, one of popovics fleyes tied with deer hair, it is my go to fly that has done well for me.
  14. Cordoba your artwork is WOW. How long does it take to ty a masterpiece like this?
  15. Flytire & JS I like this common, easy, and accurate method that Ive never used but will from now on. Thank You
  16. For trout dryflies, for stripers streamers.
  17. #1 Olive #2 Black #3 Olive & Black, size 8 & 10 weighted & unweighted.
  18. A true sportsman should have thoughts like this, respect for his quarry if nothing else. But the bothering part bulb nobody can help you with that. That is on you to deal with.
  19. 1/8th bead on a 14 works according to all the charts I have and it looks great, fish it and let us know how it worked.
  20. I also like the movement on #1 and white is a good color, it will fish.
  21. Another good short shank hook is the Eagle Claw L253.
  22. Being in the strike zone is key. I often use mini sink tips to accomplish this, I carry with me many of these, made from old sinking lines or companies like Cortland make a kit, type 6 or type 9, different lengths from 6" to 4', the longer ones can be tough to cast, I ty loops at both ends so I can add or change them quickly between flyline and leader on both floating line or intermediate.
  23. I use 20# or 30# amnesia with 30" of lead core in front, it shoots like a rocket off my 9wt. Most guys use it for leaders or indicators but it does work well as a running line.
