July Flies From the Vise

Cutty Sark

Hook - Single salmon
Thread - Claret
Tag - Copper wire or oval tinsel - sized to suit fly size
Tip - Either the floss blend (see below)* or orange floss of choice
Tail - Same floss as tip (I used the floss blend*)
Butt - Black beaver dubbing
Rib - Copper wire or oval tinsel
Body - Rear half fluorescent green floss, front half peacock herl
Hackle (throat) - Black hen
Underwing - Floss blend* or peachy orange floss to tag under green, fluorescent floss to tip of tail
Wing - Tented teal

*Floss blend - Green, orange and yellow floss

i wouldnt know average or supreme.

i dont drink turpentine (thats what the one sip tasted like to me many many years ago)

not gonna start drinking now to find out if its good or not

Nice tie Norm, I was told it was a developed taste and all I could do was shake my head and shrug and ask why would you want to acquire that?

Tail - Red golden pheasant breast feather*
Body - Mohair dyed emerald green
Rib - Oval copper tinsel
Throat - Black hen
Wing - Wood duck flank feather (tented)

*I used red hen hackle

Ribbing - 2 strands of red embroidery thread, floss, uni stretch etc
Body - White chenille
Wing - White bucktail
Collar - Red and yellow hackles, mixed
Cheeks - Jungle cock

I don't know anything about Scotch, or any liqueur for that matter. but I sure do like the flies.
