chugbug27 0 Report post Posted July 31, 2023 More trikes!... This tie is from a couple of Brits, Peter Hayes and Don Stazicker, from their eBook, Flies that Trout Prefer. They call this style, "Flat in the Film" flies -- their idea on this style fly is to imitate crippled duns and spinners by tying the wings in the same plane of the hook curve, so as to better disguise the hook. The book is full of odd ideas like this one. Should be tied using the whole hook, but I only brought light wire curve hooks in a 20 (traveling), so I left the front of the shank bare to size these about 4 or 5 mm. We'll see if the trout notice. They insist on z-lon for everything (including the body, serendipity style) -- I used Aunt Lydia's for tail and wings, thread for abdomen, superfine dubbing for the thorax. Here's the female From the front: From the back: Lying flat on paper: Nice Marinaro and Rosborough ties, btw, really like them,

niveker 0 Report post Posted August 1, 2023 Thanks. Building the bodies goes a little faster once you've done a few. The painting takes a little time as it needs the drying time.
