a half and half, size 8 streamer hook. bead head, tail and back pheasant tail, hackle pheasant body feather, body is peacock.

Tie in pheasant tail, peasant body feather and peacock. Wind peacock, palmer feather, tie in back

Here's a couple of freshwater poppers meant for our local peacock bass and other exotic species...   Done up on Mustad 1/0 popper hooks - the heads are pre-shaped foam from Perfect Popper...

each hook is carefully sharpened with a 4" mill bastard file and the barbs are mashed down... They're ready to go!

I've been messing around with using longer than normal hackles on nymphs to add movement. Mixed results so far on the water but that also may have something to do with the dropping water temps.

PRINCE NYMPH VARIANT – LONG HACKLE

Rick, there was a streamer that had half Pheasant tail and half Peacock herl body.  In the Carey Special family.  I cannot find the name.  Cool concept.

Capt Bob and Norm knock it out of the park, as usual.

DFoster, I often use longer hackles by accident, but if you look at some of the old soft hackles from back in the day, they had longer hackles than we use today.  You are on to something.

Tried Trying a Lady Caroline 

Hook: Heavy salmon 2/0

Thread: Black 

Tail: Red Pheasant crest 

Rib: Flat silver tinsel 

Body: Brown and olive mixed dubbing with Pheasant rump in place of Heron 

Collar: Golden Pheasant breast feather 

Wing: Barred Mallard Flank

I started the hackle just ahead of the tail,  I think I will try to start mid shank on future versions.  let me know your thoughts.
