I don't have enough experence yet with flies but have been told that "The Usual" by Fran Betters is a craker jack go to fly. MATERIALS Hook: Partridge SLD Thread: Fire Orange 6/0 Wing: Snowshoe Hare fur from toe of foot. My favorite is the dead chicken; one grizzly hackle tied at hook bend, some peacock herl for a body and another grizzly hackle tied at head. Sizes 12-18 seem to produce every-where. The Usual Rising fish but nothing visible. Two of my own midge patterns 1. Wissahickon Midge http://www.danica.com/flytier/jcaruso/wissahickon_midge.htm 2. Ridley Creek Fuzzball 3. The Usual, size 20 and 22 Nymphing 1. Beadhead soft hackle PT Nymph 2. Beadhead soft hackle Hare's Ear 3. Beadhead Green Weenie All size 18 or smaller. Pictures 1st. My version of the Usual 2nd. Hot combos lately have been a wine thread with copper wire and copper T-bead, purple wire with same bead and wire and then olive thread with the same bead and wire.
