I like them all. I would try the first one first. I don't know why, I just like the way it looks. It is about time to use some of those in my local lake.

I wonder what recipe would give me a nice olive color on feathers with kook-aid?

versatility is limited only by our imagination.

j. stockard sells a pack of hackle just for buggers and I really like it. get a couple packs in the colors you like to use. i use yarn for bugger bodies a lot of the time too. i also use some synthetics from fly tyers dungeon for bugger tails. maybe they aren't really buggers anymore but they really catch fish.

gray, tan and orange. gray usually works best for me.

Just find a couple flies that you like to use. Check out what you are supposed to use to tie them and either buy small quantities of what you need or start looking for a cheaper alternative. I bought a big skein of olive yarn at Wally World for $1.77 and it fuzzes up nice with a piece of Velcro used as a dubbing brush. I will probably never use the whole thing but I caught a lot of fish on flies I used a few inches of it to tie last weekend. You can break any rules you want when tying flies. I would add material for one or two flies at a time to my collection if I was strapped for cash. It doesn't have to be expensive.

That fish looks like a fighter! Beautiful colors too.

How to fight bigger fish?

I am still using an old Abu Garcia Diplomat that I bought over 25 years ago for most of my fishing. I look at newer reels but I haven't sprung for one yet. -
Yeah, I am liking those.

I'll have to read it. I knew he had some interesting experiences but wasn't aware of his book.

Oh that is sweet! -
We fished Saturday and Sunday with no generators running. It was the third trip there since Christmas and no running water any day. We have been very lucky in that regard.
