  1. If something's a good idea, someone's bound to have done it before
  2. Just did this, a 1/0 marabou streamer for Pike and Saltwater fishes
  3. Great flies guys! Can't wait to get back to tying, a bad case of sciatica has made it painful to sit for long periods of time, so had a forced break
  4. I have plenty of off cut 9-11 gauge strings lying around. That's a great idea Lykos
  5. Someone I know, has a lot of sucess, with what is in essence a mini clouser. It's a 2x long, size 10 hook, with bead chain eyes, with a Peacock sword wing and whit marabou
  6. I approach organising, the same way I do everything else. Too much enthusiasm, not enough thought xD
  7. I've got a pair that I can wear over my normal glasses, don't remember the brand though
  8. I caught a male Mallard once, hooked right in the top of the beak, it dived down and decided what I was using looked tasty, and come rocketing up out the water, managed to get it into my landing net and slipped the hook out, releasing it after
  9. Pike mainly And when I can get to the coast I will be using it in the salt
  10. I thought as much, lucky I started thinking before doing xD
  11. Well, I have a #10 floating line and a #10 sink tip line. And at this point in time I can't afford more lines or multiple spools or reels. What I was thinking of, was, removing the sinking portion of the line, fitting loops, and attaching to the end of the floating line (with another loop) so, I get the versatility of floating line, but, with a quick change, I can get the fly down. Now, would adding the extra sink tip length (15 foot) to the floating line, cause problems? Or. would I have to cut the floating line, so there's a portion of line the same length as the sink tip, and have a floating line, with interchangeable floating and sinking tips? My heads starting to hurt trying to work this out lol
  12. so, this morning, I woke up to this being delivered. A Shakespeare Expidition XT #10, thought I would show it off
  13. I use whichever method I decide I feel like using at the time. I'm still a noob to fly fishing, but I love it. But I also love using my 13 foot match rod, on the river, with maggot bait under a float, or sometimes using hard lures for the fish that will take them If it's fishing, I love it, hahaha
  14. Tough day today, overcast, the lake was flooded too, managed to winkle a few out European Perch was all I had to fly. I had a few more to float fished bait though And this is what it was like
  15. My uncle once accidently stuck a 12/0 clean through his hand. Also, I've had to take a few barbed hooks out of myself before. I've got 11 piercings at the minute, including a stretched ear lobe, getting stuck doesn't really phase me too much xD (luckily had no hooks in the eye though)
  16. Hmmmm I think I might try that with gold beads, instead of wire
  17. A Sandeel/large minnow zonker:D Hook: Turrall size 2 saltwater hook Undertail: Pearl Flashabou Body: Silver Mylar tube, teased out at the end, so the flashabou goes out through the middle of the teased out stuff Wing and Overtail: Olive Zonker strip Throat: Red Marabou fibres
  18. I think everyone should do their duty and fire up the barbecues
  19. Sorry for the giant image, but that's one of the clousers I tied before, the pike loved it, as betrayed by it bedraggled appearance xD
  20. A veritable rainbow of fish snacks! I need to practice more hahaha
  21. I have a brook that runs right by my house, literally hop the fence and you're on the bank, that in certain deeper pools have some beautiful trout, not very big, but on an ultra light setup, with a tiny fly, are immense fun
