  1. Although I can't speak for myself, I can be proxy for Wife, who agrees with Steve. She's been a PayPal user for about as long as Steve with no problems that I know of. But I am going to let her know that some people have had issues. Thanks for the warning.
  2. [[[Actually, Mcfluff ... I love that avatar, but don't tell Riffle I said that.]]]
  3. I mean that's a mean thing to say, Riffle. I mean, look at his avatar! Black and white photo with a color pike photoshopped in ... proves he catches fish, no?
  4. Thanks for the info, guys. I am presently out of town but will be going home tomorrow. I'll be trying some of those tubes in a few days.
  5. Wow! That should be on the "realistic" forum, Fred. I had to look hard to see which one was the fly. And yes, they look exactly like the ones we have here. I've fished with live ones I seined from the shoreline and you can't take your eyes off the bobber. Many times, the cork looks as though it didn't float, just hit the water and sank right in. I am seriously going to try tying some that look as real as yours.
  6. I really liked the box that Joshua posted. I am going to order one for myself. If you left this side open and put your tools in here, this would be a very nice travel box.
  7. If it wasn't for this site, I wouldn't have found this site ... wait, that didn't come out right. If it wasn't for you, Will, starting this site, I wouldn't have found ... wait ... Dag nabbit !!! This is an awesome site and I am glad it's been here for 10 years waiting for me to find it this year. That's still not right, but it's as close as I think I can get. Great site, great people, wonderful information ... and I can only hope I don't bring the property values down here ... too.
  8. And the best line of the story, repeated many times ... "But it got worse."
  9. Uummmm, Phish ... ? When you "tie some more up" ... how about taking lots of pictures and doing a recipe? Please? I am also interested in sizes and availability of brass tubes.
  10. I live in Florida, Rob, so all I do is sunfish and bass (large mouth). For ease of tying, use and material cost ... some foam body poppers for top water. There are plenty of videos on YouTube for this type of fly, and I did a photo SBS on this site. For subsurface lures, you can go with clousers or scuds. I use a version of a fly I saw on a YouTube video called a carp fly. I've caught plenty of sunfish with this pattern on a #8 long shank hook.
  11. From one old goat to another ... break given. Your cross-handedness is the only thing that makes you an oddball. I tried to say that with a straight face, really I did!
  12. Thank you. You can bet that if my business travels bring me anywhere near, I'll be sure to give you a visit.
  13. Mmmm-mmm-mm-mm-mmmmmmmmmmmmm !!!! I am beginning to like it ... I can almost see what it will be like when they get a little older. Nicely done video, too.
  14. Next April, Pete, did you say ??? [[[[ Secretly copying Peterjay's directions and planning a trip ]]]]
  15. Frank, I read all your post with interest ... and I have to respond to this statement. I am not sure you are and oddball just because you're cross-handed ... I am SURE there are many other reasons !!!
  16. Yes, thank you. Picture size probably isn't a problem for most on this site. But for me, well ... you know how you tell your Wife an 6 inch bass is really 10 inches long so she'll think everything that size is ten inches long? I guess I've been doing that so long that everything too large is hard for me to see. Anyway, thank you for resizing pictures. And I must say, the guy in this picture looks just like a guy on YouTube that does video SBS's tying some pretty neat flies. He doesn't look quite the same since I've never seen the video guy with a ... what is that? A hot cross bun or something?
  17. I don't know what species, we just call them grass shrimp. Maximum size is about 1.5 inches.
  18. I am thinking the flies staying in place wasn't as big a problem as stated. But I think I'd look for reasons reach in there and "re-position" the fly a couple of times or 20, too.
  19. If you are both working out, you'll be able to paddle the boat to 60.
  20. So, Scott ... posting the pictures on two different threads. Hmmmm Tying great looking flies and catching fish with them isn't enough, you've started fishing for compliments?
  21. I know ... I hate sounding like a broken record, but I sit here in these hotels with bad connections. When I try to open some of the pictures that are MB's in size, the "timer" just spins and I wait and wait. When the picture does come through, it's so large I have to pan around to see the whole thing. I thought, when I got older, I'd have a hard time seeing things that were too small ... now I can't see things that are too large??? How'd that happen??? PS ... suggestion taken !
  22. When I tied this ugly thing, I ended up with too much thread at the eye. The picture is taken with my bodkin pushed through the eye, it wasn't for looks. I used the bodkin needle to push the thread back after I put head cement on it. By leaving the needle in there until the Sally's had set, it left the hole open for tying onto. The best answer is to, of course, learn to control your thread better. Maybe you are using too large of a diameter thread when tying. I was using regular braided fishing line when I tied the fly above, and it was way too think a thread for the application. Good luck.
  23. OldTrout58 ... did you write that piece? If you did, can I have permission to copy and send it to some of my co-workers? If you didn't I need to know, because I can't send anything over our work network that I don't have permission from or proper credits for the author. Thank you, Mike
