  1. So i was on the google the other day looking for hooks and i came across a website called kenhook.se. Has anyone ever used them? proces are VERY cheap, almost too good to be true. Are they reliable? Do they ship quickly to the states? Thanks, Sam
  2. Finished the flies last night. Will be sending them out tomorow.
  3. I'm in. I'll tie a crawfish for the reel recovery fly and a bunny midge for us.
  4. nice fly. looks like a rubber legged dragon on steroids. will work great here in the south
  5. yall might be suprised at how small my flies are... a size 10 3xl. i have found that large bass as well as small ones will eat them. they also work for stripers as i found out this weekend when fishing for largemouths
  6. Id love to take part in this contest with The Beatle. Pumped for my first swap! Tight lines, Sam
  7. I'm up for this swap. Sign me up if there are any open spots. I'll tie a foam spider.
  8. just yesterday i got a hook stuck deep in my thumb. thank goodness it was barbless. one when my dad was a kid, he got a 6/0 bass hook stuck in his nose from a friends backcast. required a trip to the hospital. grandma was not very happy
  9. sounds like its time to save money by tying flies by buying some more hackle!
  10. can i use my normal beads on a jig or do i have to get slotted beads. the hooks are size 14-16, beads 3/32".
  11. i want to buy a hen cape, either whiting or metz. i will use it for dry fly wings and as soft hackle. do i pick whiting or metz? metz is cheaper but whiting has a good reputation. im looking for high feather count, webby feathers that are long and will wrap easily without breaking. thanks, sam
  12. i got this rod and outfit 9ft 5wt for my birthday and LOVE it. 9ft is a bit too long for some places i fish but for big river like the hooch and streams it is great. handles tiny trout to 6lb bass great. fishes amazingly. works great with a 4 or 5wt line. it is fast action and throws tight loops and will easily cast 60-70 feet in 20 mph wind. works great for anything from #26 dries to 4" long streamers(pretty hard to cast with a 5wt). cast almost exactly like a helios, just a bit heavier. if your thinking about getting one i would say go for it.
  13. All three fish were caught out of a private creek. I am the only one know it exists and the fish have never seen a fly before.
  14. Got a GoPro for Christmas and had to test it out near my mountain house. This was my first try so any help would be appreciated. All the fish were caught on a hares ear. Hope yall like it.
  15. heres a chaimera fly i tied earlier this week
  16. i will post some pictures of some dries and nymphs when i get home from school.
  17. also what length hook should i use for soft hackle? those work REALLY well where i fish
  18. thanks. i try to tie every day. i have gone through hundreds maybe thousands of hooks and probably 5 fly boxes. will dry flies (adams for example) look almost the same when tied on a 1x long hook as opposed to a standard shank? also nymphs (phesant tail for example) look almost the same?
  19. i have been tying for a few months or so now, and have gotten really good. (selling to friends and local shops) the different hook numbers from different makers confuse me. can someone please tell me what the standard sizes are( standard, 1x long 2x long 3x long dry and nymph) for the different makers (specifically mustad, tiemco, and saber if possable). a chart would be nice. also will 1x long work fine for most drys and nymphs instead of standard length? i wanted to get packs that i could use for both so it would be cheaper. Thanks, Sam
