  1. Flafly IS a character! And Terje, I am one of those lucky guys that have a beautiful wife as a fishing partner. Guys ask me where to find women like that. Heck, I don't know.... Cheers, Ed
  2. Nice work, and thank you for showing them. Cheers, Ed

Well, you may not be looking for sympathy...but my heart's out to you. I'm very sorry, man. Hang in there. Ed
  4. Gorgeous rod Steve. Thank you. Cheers, Ed
  5. Hey Dondi...welcome to the site. I, too, am left-handed. There are certain whip finish tools that don't work well lefty. The Matarelli style works fine, however. The style with the spring arm is not so cool. One of the popular tiers to watch who is a lefty [and a master] is Charlie Craven. From what I've seen [i've got a bunch of his videos], he prefers to finish with a whip finish tool. He may be worth your time to watch...it has helped me. Good luck, and hope this helps. Cheers, Ed
  6. Beautiful flies and photography for Scott and Henrik...thank you. Cheers, Ed
  7. Thanks Ray. I, too, am a fan of Feather-craft...going there to tie tomorrow and Saturday. I also like Bearsden and JS Stockard. Chris Helm isn't around anymore, but the new owners of Whitetail [Mike and Nancy] are friends and working very hard to do a great job. I'm gonna check out the Dungeon because of your note. Saltwaterflies has been good too. Cheers, Ed
  8. Cream, u da man. THAT is very cool, and thank you for your flies and input. I've only been here a short time, but your pointers have helped and your work has inspired me to work at getting better. Cheers, Ed
  9. That rod is gorgeous...you got me thinking of Christmas. Way to go. Cheers, Ed
  10. Hey Flafly and Mikechell, nice work. Clint, you can try the backer foam, but in my experience it's a little soft. I believe the flipflop foam is better. Also sheets of craft foam can be glued together to give neat stripes on the bodies. A sheet of 2 or 3 mm foam is cheap...about 2 bucks. I use pipe sharpened on the end and chuck it in a drill to cut the foam. Type 77 adhesives work well to glue the foam sheets/pieces. Good luck. Ed
  11. I saw a video at regular speed of this fly about a month ago. I was looking at Japanese style lures to see how they do their paint jobs, and it popped up. Pretty interesting. Those guys really do some pretty fantastic work. The painted details on their lures [not flies] are amazing. My recollection is that this shrimp looked a little fragile, but the design was ingenious. Cheers, Ed
  12. She did! Hopefully it will help with the woeful pictures of flies I post. Thank you. Cheers, Ed
  13. Nice flies you guys. And Li'l Dave, congratulations. Cheers, Ed
  14. Hey Dennis..welcome to the site. Mikechell makes some serious observations...something to think about. I toyed with the idea of guiding, and a pretty close friend is a guide. After watching him, I decided it wasn't for me. I'm too cranky. Guiding is a lot of hard work during the best part of the season. If it's in your heart, go for it. I get to fish a lot more than my guide/outfitter buddies. Good luck, man. Cheers, Ed
  15. Terje, that is a cool picture...thank you. You inspired my wife to go to the city today for a trip to the camera shop. Oh, boy. Tony, I have the same problem/disorder. Cheers, Ed
  16. Hey Jaydub, will that thing do a whip-finish too. Cheers, Ed
  17. Tremendous looking flies you guys. Dan, have a great trip. Cheers, Ed
  18. Captain Bob, that's a good looking fly. Thank you for showing it. Cheers, Ed
  19. Good luck Adam. Cheers, Ed
  20. To Eide and Scott...I am impressed, and thank you. This stuff is an inspiration. Cheers, Ed
  21. Good luck, man. That is a gorgeous rod for some lucky soul. Way to go. Cheers, Ed
  22. Flytire...that is NICE. Wow! Thank you. Cheers, Ed
  23. Hey Fly, welcome to the forum. Your story sounds very familiar...I'm 57 and started tying as a kid too. I hear ya on the ups and downs...Wow! Glad you're here, and show us some work. Cheers, Ed
  24. Dan, those bugs are gorgeous. Hey Johnny, the deerhair slider is probably the best all-round bug...it is for us day in day out with conventional tailing. All these bugs went swimmin' again this morning. They performed ok, but I'll probably stick to conventional tailing for my box. I also prefer deerhair to solid bugs for my own fishing. Again, I think day after day they outperform my solid bugs. Thank you for your comments and question. Cheers, Ed
  25. Ate doves tonight with jalapeno grits...lemon muffins for dessert. U da man. Cheers, Ed
