  1. Nice. Thanks @Sandan. Its a great pattern if you do the warm water thing.
  2. Next Challenge: We'll stay on the WW theme with a Cypert's Minnow
  3. Ken Edmonds' Stealth Bomber Hook - #6. Not sure of the brand, received in raffle in an unbranded bag at my fly tying club. Wire seems a bit light for the size, probably why they were given away - LoL. Thread - green mono-cord Tail - Olive bucktail over FTD Northern Flash Black Minnow over white bucktail Body - 2mm craft foam Underbody - FTD UV-x ET dubbing, yellow Legs - round yellow hit with a marker Not real happy with this, but no time to tie another. I don't usually tie them this big, usually on a #6 B-10s which is significantly smaller. A bit thicker foam would look better on a hook this size. Normally I would tie the legs shorter, just past the bend, but have seen some tied long like this and thought I would give it a go. Don't really like it, I can always snip them at the lake. I always leave out the underwing between the wing and the body on the original, I don't really see its purpose.
  4. Godspeed to your full recovery and your return to the vise, TT.
  5. I want to tie some up for my son-in-law. If no one chimes in by this evening and if its permitted to take your own challenge, I'll do it.
  6. Good stuff there. Welcome to the site.
  7. Low 70's here today in west/central MA, with a light rain through most of the day. Weather has been really nice here, so far.
  8. Interesting, ... I wonder.
  9. Relatively simple crayfish pattern I like to tie: Hook - #6 terrestrial Thread - black Shellback/Tail - clear bathing suit elastic, cut to size, hit with brown marker Weight - 2 strips .03 lead keeled under abdomen only Body - new age chenille, Halloween Legs - brown India saddle Claws - pheasant neck Rib - small silver wire
  10. Nice. Such variations in color and patterns. First one looks like it could almost be a salmon
  11. I'm old school too, with my reels and how I wind. Most of the reels I use are the classis Pfluegers or the older knock offs. I didn't realize the whole LH/RH was much of an issue until I started taking my nephew fly fishing a few years ago. I almost never put a fish on the reel, but at this point I wouldn't change in any case.
  12. Wow, pretty good outing right there, Steve, beautiful fish.
  13. A post on another site reminded me of mini-muddler minnows, another effective, scaled down streamer.
  14. Thanks CP Nice pattern there @RickZieger
  15. @cphubert Nice ties. Aren't #2 and #3 Seaducers?
  16. Welcome to the site, EBE. Sometime I just want to swing or dead drift small streamers, letting the current do most of the work for me. Its a very relaxing way to fish. I think any streamer pattern can be downsized into a micro streamer, maybe changing material to suit the smaller pattern, as I'm sure you know since you've been tying so long. For patterns, I have good luck with tiny buggers, olive and black. I also like to tie and fish traditional winged wet flies as streamers. One of my favorites is the Royal Coachman. A McGinty does surprisingly well sometimes. Others that some to mind: Black Ghost, Mickey Fin, Blacknose Dace, Gartside's Sparrow, Picket Pin. I'm obviously a fan of the older fly patterns. In fly tying, eventually everything old is new again, especially if all of one's knowledge comes from the tube, but I digress.
  17. Man, you catch some chonkers on your trips! Nice report.
  18. Since we're heading into popper season, something a little more involved, but certainly not difficult: Kent Edmond's Stealth Bomber
  19. Rusty Spinner Hook - Dry, #16 Thread - 8/0, dark brown Tail - CDL fibers, tied long Body - Stripped peacock quill hit with red marker, coated with SHHAN Wings - Aunt Lydia's, white Thorax - Superfine dubbing, rusty brown
