bertgwen 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2014 Since my last swap went so smoothly I thought I'd host one more before spring. The pheasant tail nymph , simple to tie, effective, versatile. Personally, I seem to be stuck in rut as to how I tie them (and fish them). So.... The Essence of the Pheasant Tail Swap. Any fly tied in the method of, or inspired by, the pheasant tail nymph. Use pheasant, turkey, grouse, synthetics, whatever, so long as it has a tie to the traditional. I do like my pheasant tails small, so I'm going to suggest nothing larger than a 16. Due date April 18. Ten persons total. Toe tag, include return postage and packaging. Address below. Please notify me when your flies hit the road. 1. Swapmeister - Bead head Hen PT 2. Tim980 - Micro PT - flies arrived 3. DavidHE - PT Variant - flies arrived 4. Shmang - PT Variant - flies arrived 5. DJtrout - BH Variant - flies arrived 6. ATX discgolfer - Spearfish Special - flies arrived 7. Notenuftoys - Rust Wire Variant - flies arrived 8. Rockworm - Black Variant - flies arrived 9. Gunpowderleader - Sawyers - flies arrived 10. bertgwen 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2014 When I first set this up I thought April 5 (almost 3 weeks out) was plenty of time. I've change the date to April 18. I think that is more than enough time for a dozen pheasant tails. robert
djtrout 0 Report post Posted March 20, 2014 count me in. size 16 beadhead variant w/olive turkey quill.
atxdiscgolfer 0 Report post Posted March 20, 2014 Ok i can make the April 18th im in with a Spearfish Special- size 16 - pattern from FlyTyer magazine Autumn 2013 p. 21. These cdc pheasant tail patterns brought me some nice fish to the net and this pattern uses peacock dubbing so that makes it even better than a normal cdc pheasant tail. bertgwen 0 Report post Posted March 24, 2014 Initial post updated, up to 8 participants so far. Regardless of whether the swap fills, I intend to continue as planned, with everyone sending in twelve flies. If the swap doesn't fill, I will distribute flies so everyone gets twelve back. Meaning you may end up with two of a couple of patterns. robert
notenuftoys 0 Report post Posted March 24, 2014 Flies are in the trusted hands of the USPS. Keep the extras, bertgwen.
bertgwen 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2014 Toys, your flies arrived last week, very nicely tied. Kind of a copper john/pheasant tail morph. robert
gunpowderleader 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2014 I'd like to join if you will have me. Instead of a inspired by pattern I would like to tie the fly as it was dressed by Mr. Sawyer himself.
