troutguy 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2015 If you do RFMD's , tie the tail first, tie the body and tie off the fly.Trim the body to size. Tie all your flies to this point. Next go back and add wings and hackle to all flies. It is easier to tie this fly in steps.
joseph russell 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2015 Thanks troutguy I will do it like that.
gunpowderleader 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2015 I've landed on a fly to tie for this swap. How about a leadwing coachman dry, quill wings

fishingbobnelson 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2015 I decided on an Edward Hewitt pattern, the Dun Bivisible. I had never seen this particular fly before, but think it has to be a fish getter.

vicrider 0 Report post Posted March 16, 2015 What are you using for the body on your version Fishin'Bob. I find them tied with a couple of different dubbings. Wonder if that wouldn't be good with herl underneath also?
fishingbobnelson 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2015 I think you are thinking of a different fly. The one I tied is from the early 1900's by Edward Hewett. It is from the book "The Founding Flies".
Henrik Thomsen (DK) 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2015 Just to telle everybody that I'm alive and soon to start tying the flies. Will be size 12 Rat Faced McDougals in an Olive variant with either white or gray calftail wing. Â Hope it is ok? Â /Henrik
troutguy 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2015 I received flies from Bob Nelson and Joe Herndon today.
vicrider 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2015 tg, can you maybe edit front page to let us know whose flies have found there way to you. I don't want to be last at the deadline and have had one set done for a long time but just finished an ordeal of tying Hog Snares for a swap and now hope to have time to add a fly. No guarantee but with Snares behind me at 45 minutes apiece x 15 my time is freed up a little more.
