The notch is where the arrow is pointing? Then "down" when tying in, is actually down, and not towards the hook.

Eide, all your flies are normally fantastic. And this is not an exception.

However if you wish to keep a traditional Pritt like touch to the fly, lede is more.

Shorter body (no farther black than hook point). Lede hackle 8-14 fibers. And maybe less head, spiders are not known for intelligence. 😜

Lost power for a few days due to the ice storm....in eastern NC....strange I know.

 

Tied this one by candle light....turned out ok...
