mikechell 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2018 Retro ... are you just gluing those foam "bubbles" on top? Neat look to them, even better if they actually keep the fly at/just below the surface.

Neat look to them, even better if they actually keep the fly at/just below the surface. i have seen a video by the Feather Bender melting a polypropelene (sp?) parachute post to achieve the effect. May be the same here.
Slawth 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2018 Gotta work on my foam technique! Bucktail seems too long on the SB & Gurgler. Too much UV Resin on the Duke Nukem but that's b/c I srewed up tying in the foam. They'll fish though... Nice flies!Nothing wrong with those. They will fish just fine. For sure- I'l tear em up at my local pond. Just some things I need to work on in regards to my tying...

fshng2 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2018 These are some bass size mop flies I've been paying with. These two are intended for salt water. My attempt at a Cinder Worm. We have a decent hatch on the South Jersey shore. I'm leaning toward the floating one, since they often swim on the surface. P2160125.JPG These are for bass or anything else that will take them. I also plan to do them as a surface fly using the same head configuration. P2160127.JPG P2160129.JPG P2160131.JPG These are the result of a question from a newbie on another wondering if he could tie a PT nymph on a size 18 shrimp/caddis pupa hook. Nothing fancy, no wing case or legs. Normally, I would tie them as soft hackles. I've done well on Valley Creek, local wild trout stream. Smaller one is tied on a size 18 TMC 2488, the larger one is tied on a size 18 TMC 101. P2060124.JPG Nice! What hook are you using for the cinder worm pattern.
