July Flies From the Vise

A few more "fiber schwimps" from kids hair, 6 mm glass rattles, glass bead eyes, stout hooks and UV resin on the heads. Shortened up a bit for fewer missed strikes.

George Nymph (Cotton top)

 

Hook - #12-16 2x or 3x long streamer hook

Thread - Dark brown or black

Tail - Brown hackle barbs

Shellback - 1/4-inch section of turkey tail feather

Abdomen - 3-5 strands of peacock herl

Wing case - section of white polypro yarn & a section of turkey tail feather

Thorax – Thread or peacock herl

Legs - Brown hackle

You all continue to not only raise the bar but keep the bar high. Fantastic work everyone!

 

Here's a simple caddis emerger.

Recipe if you're interested.

Hook:Umpqua U002 (16)

Thread:Uni 8/0 tan (brown, olive works too, etc., etc.)

Tag:Pearl opal mirage tinsel tag

Abdomen: thread over tinsel

Thorax:Tan superfine

Underwing: Amber Darlon

Wing: Select natural cow elk

Post: White McFlylon

Hackle: Brown Whiting Saddle

 

This baby was killer yesterday (7July2018) on the Dream Stream section of the South Platte.

Nice fly Sandan. I took my red para ant out to Olympia lakes in Willingboro NJ. I was only one pulling in fish and they came from below to top feed. Most swallowed deep so lucky I did barbless.

"The Harlequin" - (or as close I can get, anyway)

 

I've wanted to tie this fly ever since I first saw the pattern. Unfortunately, it is still above my skill level, especially the wing, and this one has problems, but I'm still kind of proud of it. Faults and all. smile.png
