The Mad Duck 0 Report post Posted November 4, 2019 Have a buddy that had a Bassett. His name was Earl. Earl was the MOST laid back dog I've ever seen...Congrats!
Peartree 0 Report post Posted November 4, 2019 He already had a name when we got him, he was a rescue and we didn't want to confuse him by changing it. Considering how his life started out, seems like he's pretty laid back and appreciative of all the attention he's getting.

Pyme Fisher 0 Report post Posted November 4, 2019 My son is hoping he'll be into chasing rabbits, ... With those legs, and typical Bassett hound temperament, my money is on the rabbits!
Pyme Fisher 0 Report post Posted November 4, 2019 He already had a name when we got him, he was a rescue and we didn't want to confuse him by changing it. Considering how his life started out, seems like he's pretty laid back and appreciative of all the attention he's getting. I have two rescues laying at my feet right now. We kept the name of one, and changed the other one just slightly, keeping it close enough that it has the same general sound to it, so that she would be able to make the transition (it helped that she was only about 12 weeks old at the time, so not very imprinted on the original name anyway). I've owned papered dogs with solid bloodlines before, but will always go with a rescue from now on. They turn into great buddies, and just seem to know how lucky they got. They repay that, in spades! Enjoy your new friend!

DFoster 0 Report post Posted November 6, 2019 My wife came home with this friendly little guy on last Friday. 5 months old and needing a home, I named him Oliver after Oliver Edwards. He's fitting in just fine, the cat however is really not taking it well- Congrats Peartree, life with a dog is just better!
