mikemac1 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2019 For the last decade, Ive been religiously fishing the Firehole on Memorial Day. The opening day crowds are gone and the tourist anglers havent showed in force yet. This years opening weekend was early and the typical high water was manageable. Before the late morning storms made for some windy, wet conditions, four hours of dredging deep runs with my favorite streamer yielded exceptional results. The Firehole always produces a lot of 10-14 inch fish but the best chance for those large, rare beasts from the deep recesses of the river has always been during the first few weeks of the season when the water is high and tea colored. This year was no exception.
