  1. Thank you very much. I appreciate it.
  2. Any hook will do, I would appreciate anything. Thank you.
  3. Wooldridge makes a great boat, she sure looks nice. There's a joke in there somewhere about wearing "blackface" but Mikey will surely ban me if I make it so I won't. Yep the security of the new engine was a big part of it. The coil went out in the ocean once, and it was pitch black. I had one in the boat, we switched it out and were underway again in about fifteen minutes but, it could have been a problem. I was really just getting tired of working on it and buying so much gas for it. Now it will be better.
  4. Yes, it's a work in progress. It was put on the back burner for two years while I took care of my brother who passed away, then, Covid made it necessary to keep it on the back burner while I kept bills paid and social distanced in the fish house. I got a million more excuses if you need more. Now I feel like I can get back to it. Something like this is a pretty big drain on resources and time. Wouldn't want to have to skip a fishing trip to work on a vice. Still no finish date projected but I will start posting pictures of it.
  5. I'm making damascus for a really cool fly tying vise. I have made the stand-up bar out of fish hooks and would like to make more components of the vice with fish hook damascus. If any body has hooks they could donate to the cause, I would appreciate it. Also, I have lots of materials I could trade for hooks you cant use. They can be rusty, bent, spent flies whatever you have. Please PM me for my address and give me a list of materials you need. Thanks Mark PS, I'll sand the post to show you what the damascus looks like.
  6. Yep, I'm really excited about it. I repowered my boat this year with a new 6.2 liter Kodiak IB. It's supposed to only burn 6.5 gals an hour at cruising speed. So now, maybe I'll get to work on the boat less and fish in it more. I got some really good trips planned. How'd your maiden voyage go? Many fine trips to you.
  7. Thanks Rick. They are the pretties rainbows we get up here but not the biggest.
  8. Fish houses are allowed on the lake till April 30th but with the warm weather, the ice will deteriorate quickly. It was 66 degrees on the ice. My buddy Mike and I went out to get the house off the the lake. There was still 40 inches of ice and we'll be able to fish for a couple more weeks but it won't be safe to drive on the ice. The weather was so nice we couldn't resist drilling some holes and catching a few fish. The rainbows in this lake are so pretty. It was a pretty good day.
  9. Seems like a long name. I don't think it will catch on. Good luck on your trip.
  10. Oh, I was confused cuz you quoted my intestine joke when you made the comment. Carry on.
  11. I'm sorry, that went right over my head.
  12. Very nice, I guess you'll have to take a day off from the shad. Decisions decisions..
  13. Try soaking first, then send them to me if that don't work. No seriously, I love to fiddle with stuff to see if they can be brought back. If I was successful I'd send them back. Of course, you could just bring them back where you got them and see if you can have them replaced.
  14. I was wondering if anybody thought it was funny, I was left hanging there for a while. Fly tiers are pretty sophisticated folk. My wives family is always up for a good butt or fart joke but they're not fly tiers.
  15. For me, the guide is just the guy to run the boat. That's on my known waters. It's very difficult to run the boat on salmon and trout waters and still fly fish. When I was the guide, I, was of course, more than just the guy to run the boat.😁 I very seldom get to just fish when I'm out with buddies, I'm usually the guy running the boat and helping everyone else. It's really a luxury for me to have someone else do all the stuff. And, he's worth it.
  16. I have done several deer hides. People keep bringing them over. After I salt them and cut them up, I give most of it away, mostly to fly tying schools and new tiers.
  17. Sounds like a great lot of fun. Good for you. I'm envious for you now. I've never gotten to fish for them but I've it in in VA. I've never heard of anybody eating them either. Hows your boat running? And you new anchor?
  18. It is both....in that order. You know how it is on the internet, you can say what ever you want.
  19. OK, if you like. To me it's like calling somebodies baby an "it". Personally, even if I'm dragging a deer, I don't say "it" I say buck, doe or deer. The deer or man is, or was a living being and deserving of more than "it". "It" is for inert objects. To each his own, but if I ever get shot, I hope nobody says "drag "IT" over there to the mass burial pit with all those others" I prefer "Him" or "That amazing specimen of a man" or "The fishin' magician" or "200 pounds of twisted steel with sex appeal" Thanks in advance. Once again I may have overstated my position. Sorry.
