FlatsRoamer 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2018 Good stuff Caloosa. I've always thought that pound for pound, mayans fight harder than peacock bass. The problem is that they are invasive and considered a pest amongst many anglers, and they also do not grow to the size of peacocks. We thought they were high in mercury and presumably unsafe to eat.  We were wrong, and I have since learned where to target bluegill with the occasional Mayan, and where to target Mayans with the occasional bluegill.
