February Flies from the Vice

Recommended Posts

Welcome to the site, easternsierraflies. Those look like killer big fish flies. What did you use for the eyes? They look clear.

Jason ... What size are those? Very small, or really big herl. Either way, I like those.

Funny Jason. Has the swelling gone down, yet?

Here's a couple more pictures of what I did yesterday.

D-rib bead heads ...

The body on the all white one is "hackled" with the "fluffy" barbs at the base of a feather off the boa.

This is tied using a section of the "fluffy" feather barbs, still on the split shaft.

And what it looks like wet. Tie on 8, short plain hook ... total length is a little over an inch.

I think they'll be killer on the sunfish I target.

Mike, Is that a de barbed hook I see on the D-rib bead heads?

Cheers,

C.

I figured someone would notice. I had to get the bead on. The hole is slightly to small, so the barb gets depressed when I force the bead on. There is still a barb there ...

C. Have you seen my finger crab fly?

a couple February flies. First is a 2/0 deer hair diver of sorts.

Next is a deer hair bee on a #14 Captain Hamilton Dry hook. I hope the trout don't count the legs and get confused.

Pretty colors on the diver. Nicely stacked and packed deer hair.

THAT is a good looking bee.

If you've got a trout smart enough to count legs ... quit casting to it. It's also going to be able to tell you what size tippet you're using and belittle you for your casting faults.

Nice Goddard Caddis Flytyer.

I have just realised I trim the rear part of the wing in the wrong direction..... DOH!

Cheers
