SBPatt 0 Report post Posted April 14, 2019 March Brown (Carnage variation) hook - Dai Riki 135 #12 thread - Danville 6/0 tan core - 7lb mono tail - moose body hair (bleached) body/head - 1mm foam tan wing - Congo Hair white hackle - grizzly dyed tan Foamhead Skwala (Carnage variation) hook - Dai Riki 135 #10 thread - Danville 6/0 yellow core - 7lb mono tail - moose body hair body/head - 1mm foam olive wing - Congo Hair Baitfish Grey legs - medium rubber brown indicator - 2mm foam orange Since my friend in Missoula keeps me well-stocked with upland game pelts, I figured I could supply him with some stuff for the springtime hatches. Looks like the Root has come down from the big spike on Wednesday so maybe he can find some fish looking up. A #12 may seem a bit big for March Browns but the fly has a pretty small footprint on the water and the fish down there are as dumb as posts anyway. RexW 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2019 The wing isn't set right and some of my substitutions didn't work as well as I'd hoped, but this one turned out to be the most complicated pattern I've tied so far. So, I'm going to post it anyway. 😃 Here's the "Aberdeenshire Dee Tartan"

Mike West 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2019 Tying up some top water stuff for a very generous member here. Said he needed them to cast on a 3wt. I can cast all these on a 4wt so I hope works for him. Also included a couple hand tied leaders that will help toss these flies that are pushing the limits of a 3wt. Mark Knapp 0 Report post Posted April 16, 2019 Boy, oh boy, Mike, those look great. I wonder who those are for. I have a three weight, (that could be just a coincidence). I also have a 5-6 weight that I use most of the time so chucking those babies wouldn't be a problem.
