Bimini15 0 Report post Posted December 29, 2020 The next few are leftover flies. I have this white buck tail with only the natural brown hair left and I thought it was a waste to just get rid of it. So I tied six tails on six hooks and this is the first one I have done:

Tail: Dun hackle fibers Body: Stripped peacock quill Wings: Wood duck Hackle: Dun Notes: Pretty stoked how these turned out, truth be told. Far from being able to crank these ones out quickly and I definitely took my time to get things as right as I could, but am glad that I did. Getting much better at splitting the wings; big assist from Valla's book "Tying Catskill Style Dry Flies" on that front as well as the inspiration. Valla’s book is great and I’ve often recommended it to tyers who are interested in tying dries. You’re gonna have to shop around for some decent tailing hackle which now due to genetics can not be found as easily on the genetic dry fly capes. A strong non webbed tail is needed to keep the ship upright and looking good.
