  1. Is that the dubbing that was featured in the new Fly Tyer? I've been wanting to play around with that.
  2. Shane you got a pic or 2 to share? Drew
  3. I wanted to join track this year so (insert swear word of choice)ing badly! But my parents were going to make me pay the $80 activity fee by myself. I am so mad about it... I love kayaking, biking, hiking, hunting, fishing of any kind, photography, running, swimming, weight lifting, etc. I try to be really active. I collect antlers and horns. It is a very small collection, including one whitetail antler, 3 muley antler, one elk, and one antelope. In case you haven't figured out, I like being active and outdoors. Since when do HS sports require an activity fee? I been out of HS since '97 and if my school had ever implemented a fee like that I'm pretty that would have spelled the end of athletics.
  4. Thanks Steve, I'll post this over there later tonight.
  5. Guys I was hoping someone who regularly fishes the Grand River in MI could help me out. I go to visit my wife's family in Grand Rapids every year and its always been something thats kept me from fishing while we're there. This year I vowed it will be different and we'll be there for either Thanksgiving or Christmas. I was wondering what gear I'll need and fly selection I should start tying now. Also any access points not too far from Grand Rapids would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Andrew
  6. Steve what kind of editing software are you going to be using with that set up? When I switched over to the world of digitial SLRs I found I spent more time at the computer editing my photos than I was outside taking pictures.
  7. Get a pair of rotary hackle pliers, have made my life a lot easier.
  8. That's a sharp looking fly, nice tie! :headbang:
  9. That site has some serious drama on it. It took me well over an hour last night to read all the pages (19 in 1 thread). I had nothing better to do last night!!!
  10. Jared I currently have and use this vice regularly. The majority of the parts are polished brass but it holds a hook pretty well. I've had mine since August and really can't complain as my wife got it for me as a B-day present. A whole lot better than the vise that came with my original kit. I honestly thought she paid a lot more for it when I 1st saw it and used it. No complaints. Andrew :headbang:
  11. I have found pork Heaven!!!
  12. Karel, if you ever get around to building one, I think we'd all love to see how it turns out and the plans...
  13. Can you buy that box off their website? I can't find it anywhere... I could be blind though... Ortho try the below link: http://flytyersdungeon.com/ftd_tyers_box.htm
  14. Also check out the fly tyers dungeon, he is currently offering the fly tyers box, for $25 you get a whole lot of materials to play with, but you'll still need some of the basics like thread, chenile etc...
  15. I got my box today too...unfortuneatly my wife got home 1st. Waiting till she goes to bed to open it and spread out all the goodies.
  16. Sounds like a solid day out. Congrats on getting your nemissis! You going to mount it?
  17. Got an email from the mad scientist yesterday. Boxes were being shipped yesterday and today.
  18. There's a serious amount of diversity among people's day jobs. I think its great that fly fishing and tying can bring so many different talents and backgrounds together. I worked as an analyst for a southern investment banking firm, now I'm working on my MBA with a concentration in finance and spending as much of my free time with my 13 month old son.
  19. Anyone ordered and received the fly tyers box yet? I put my order in on the 14th and am eagerly waiting for its arival...Curious as to the amounts of the materials and the color selection people have been getting. Thanks, Andrew
  20. Good luck Shane. Right now I'm missing my old stomping ground in Arkansas. Post some pics of your decoy spread and any dog work.
  21. Its not just that you get better equipment, but rather you get tools (and a vise) that YOU are comfortable with. This will help your overall enjoyment with tying. I started with a kit those funds were wasted as I've replaced just about everything in it.
  22. The only "condition" my friends have ever insisted on when they've accepted flies I've offered them is that they get the 1st round when we leave the water. I think that's the only "condition" I'll ever encounter with my friends.
  23. I take it the rifles are to protect your materials...lol...
