  1. Most glues, good ones anyway, "cure" by some type of catalytic action. All catalytic or enzyme reactions develop heat as a byproduct. When containing these actions, such as holding two eyes against each other through a layer of hair, the heat has no easy way to "escape" and will be felt with greater intensity.
  2. I like the dubbing loop twister made with a toilet seat screw and nut ... washers for weight. That's an easy, inexpensive tool!
  3. Thank you to everyone who has reduced the sizes of their pictures. It's great when I can click on a photo and see the whole thing in one view. And there are some great flies coming up this month.
  4. I keep a close watch on all my fly tying material expenses. I've got the Wife convinced I am up to a total of $52.56 for the year. It helps when I show her the flip-flops (foam body material) and Halloween wigs (synthetic streamer hair). She's pretty easy going and doesn't ask to see more ... phew !!!
  5. If you are only needing small amounts, I think the easiest way would be with florescent permanent markers.
  6. I've never seen her before this thread. That girl is gorgeous!!! AND she ties flies and fishes, and she's a guide (which means she fishes well). And she's gorgeous !!! Is there any woman out there that's more of a dream girl than April??? I doubt it. except my wife, of course ... she's MY dream girl. (Just in case she reads this reply) I hope my wife doesn't see this reply, she'll kick me in the head.
  7. Whooo Hooo !!!! Color !!! I am loving this tank ... I mean, if I was looking, which I am not I'd probably love this tank.
  8. Wow! Nice video .... I'll be tying some of those very soon.
  9. November? head south ... as far as $350.00 will take you. 100 bucks for fishing license and food, sleep in the truck. Fish in WARM weather for a week. $350.00 to get back home. That's what I'd do, but then ... I HATE cold weather.
  10. No fish in the first tank, so I am not looking. Somebody told me the top is looking pretty good, though.
  11. Chip !!!! Really ??? That fly works? It's not that I don't believe you .... but do you have any video of that fly catching fish?

LOL ... Then the music will be even more exciting?
  13. Nice start to November. Great looking squid and classic flies.
  14. Whooo Hoooo !!!! I can hardly wait !!!
  15. Wow! That's really neat !!! I especially like these parts ... and will be building some soon.
  16. Marble is actually a rather soft stone. Buy a bit for drilling ceramic tile. These bits have very hard edges and are designed to go through ceramic tile without chipping or breaking the tile. I've used them to drill holes through shower stall tiles to mount curved curtain rods, etc. one of those, the size of your vise mount, should do the trick.
  17. Is this a case of two countries separated by a common language? Blae and Black ... I am not familiar with that color, laddie. Joking, of course. We really need to have pictures of swap flies, or is that something that is reserved for those in the swap?
  18. Wonderful !!! Thank you, very much. Those are all good looking flies for catching warm water species. Since I am a warm water angler, I like what I see. Some of those look like you've got techniques down to a "T".
  19. Oh ... please wait until you are down to 110 before doing the speedo pic. Thank you !!!

    MEAT!!

Agn ... how do you process those tails for storage? I tried doing a raccoon tail and it just shriveled up on me ... I can hardly get a good cut of hair off it.

I like the soundtrack ... contrastingly inappropriate for the video, and all the more interesting for it. Would love to see more of the underwater footage and insects netted.
  22. That's a good looking fly ... I'll be trying that this evening, if I get the wife's stuff done ...
  23. You pasted this on "fly fishing" forum too. Here's my reply from there: If they are straightening the hook, you don't need more hook gap, you need lighter drag. Small flies, small tippets, lighter drag, longer fight ... more fun?
