  1. Pretty decent 'bow and a pretty 'bow.
  2. Really nice DF, always great when the natives answer the door to let you know they're still home.
  3. With their bug legs, I think so. FTD legs that I've used are pretty thin, but I've only used them in the smaller sizes, and on his website he doesn't have a direct comparison to other rubber legs, only his own. They both have their application. When you get the medium legs, watch how they act when fishing them compared to a fly with skinnier legs.
  4. Yeah that's about what mine look like, now that you post the photo. I think you'll find FTD legs, even the regular sized ones, are a lot thinner than the medium legs used in the video, which would account for their different behaviors.
  5. I use FTD bug legs in the smaller sizes but I have not seen that before, the hank is usually zip tied in the middle Maybe contact him for a replacement?
  6. Welcome to the site, @mtntroll. Here's a quick blurb on the qualities of qiviut here: https://www.54deanstreet.it/shop/product/bm-ds-lted-qiviut-dubbing-selection-7553 Thats as much help as I have at the moment.
  7. Thanks, and they both still work great!
  8. Next Challenge: Brown's Crayfish
  9. Amy's Ant Hook: #12 terrestrial Thread: 72D, camel Underbody: Orange craft foam Overbody: Brown craft foam Legs: FTD, medium golden stone Hackle: Brown rooster saddle, trimmed short. Body: FTD, UV-X rainbow dubbing, hot orange Underwing: Flashabou Overwing: Deer hair. Thorax: FTD, UV-X rainbow dubbing, hot orange Notes: Created in the 90's by Jack Dennis and named after his daughter, it won the Jackson Hole One Fly tournament in 1999. Not sure what the original recipe was, but it is most commonly tied using tan and brown foam for the under and over body, respectively; medium brown round rubber legs; olive krystal chenille for the body; rainbow flash for the underwing, and elk for the overwing. Like many good fly patterns, change the material up as desired.

  13. Can't go wrong with any of the advice given here. IMO, best advice is to hit up the club mentioned earlier, or find one closer if need be. You will be shocked at the generosity in advice, tools, and materials most experienced tyers will show to an enthusiastic newcomer.
