November Flies from the Vise

Vjc I assume you mean the Caddis pupa? I didn't notice that, but I can't say for sure it doesn't... but both weighted and unweighted similar versions I tried in a pale yellow definitely caught fish this past October when nothing much seemed to be hatching

I've heard of people breaking hook points off while <shudder> mashing the barb. This, however, is the first time I've heard of anyone, in any situation, breaking the hook EYE off.

Too bad, too ... it's a good looking fly.

Yeah, I have an uncanny ability to screw up the simplest things, it seems. Tied up another similar one and it came out ok.

Caloosa bug

I tried something like that but it swam upside down. Have yours done that?

Are you asking about the one tied on the worm hook on page 3? If so, then no. The worm hooks pretty much always ride point up. Unless you have a really buoyant material along the bend. I've had some that tend to lay in their side, but those had a strip of foam on the belly, or a really dense estaz. Even then, it would never completely flip.

If you were talking about chugbug's caddis pupa.. then check out his response. Good luck.
