Kimo 0 Report post Posted June 21, 2020 Damsel Fly-Adult, Olive/Brown Please note the position of the wings well as the composition of the wings. The wings are made of iridescent film. You need to tone down the material a bit with a grey marker because they will scare off the fish. As opposed to the Dragonfly nymph, the wings on a damsel are are folded back over the abdomen when it is at rest. The wings of a dragonfly are splayed out. The abdomen is made of retired fly line. I got the idea from my compadre B. Schmidt. It has been embossed with the segmentation with a heated pair of modified hemostats. You can still see the dimples because it is SA’s Sharkskin. The blue one is also floating fly line. Kimo

McFlyLures 0 Report post Posted June 21, 2020 Some sunfish imitations. Someone sent me a picture of a panfish in their area and asked if I could tie up some flies to mimic the local forage for their large bass. They wanted a rather small fly though... Very few of the flies that I tie are posted on the site. What you are looking at is one of my Index boxes. I always tie at least 3 and keep one for my records. If they make thru the tests, either my own or my friends, I'll then tie several of them to fish. Some turn out to be complete dogs, others I will make refinements to and keep tying them. For me , fly tying is a process. Kimo
