@chugbug27 I’m liking that Morus thread very much. I have a nbr 7 blue on order ,🤓. The Grouse & Green I posted was tied with Pearsalls Highlander green thread.  I see very little difference in the two though I’m no expert when it comes to tying those classic spiders but I will say if someone asked about getting started tying those spiders I would definitely recommend the Morus thread.

Here's a few more "revised" flies.  These are "Siliclones", a Bob Popovics fly.  The body on the original fly was wool spun on the shank.  I used a Polar Fibre product, can't find the name.  Not sure they make it anymore.  I was able to spin it and trim it to shape.  The body is then coated with silicone.  Basic repair was to remove the old eyes, which had become cloudy and repair a few tears caused by bluefish.  I used Solarez flex resin for the repairs,

The mullet patterns, the six in the back worked best from a jetty.  I had my best day with stripers, probably using one of those.  There was one that I had do a few more repairs on.  I caught four stripers from 24 to 28 inches, in probably the nastiest weather I ever fished in.  A couple in the front were intended for pike, but I never used them.  There's always 2021.

I actually did tie some new flies in November.   I found a few bodies for the poppers I was "revising"  and tied some new ones up with the narrow belly.

(Follow up to an earlier post)

I posted this Fuzzy Grizzly Tail Jig last week and received some nice comments so I thought I'd share a little follow up.

This weekend I was fishing my local tailwater and having a cold, very slow day. I was about to call it, when I remembered that I hadn't fished this fly yet.

I tied it on to my little glass 3wt and hooked and lost an 8-10" rainbow on the 1st cast(a pretty good sign). I cast 3 or 4 more times and wham, the big fish(approx. 20") below just hammered it.

He fought like hell, leaped several times and ran me into my backing. I've caught steelies on my 5wt, and this was a similar, 'hold on for dear life' type of experience.

I released the fish, packed up and headed home after that. It was a very satisfying drive.

I'm experimenting a little this morning with some fur @Mark Knapp was kind enough to send out, what, a year or two ago already? Yikes. A long delayed thank you to Mark, this stuff is interesting.

The first is a fur hair nymph made with a lynx fur patch sent by Mark, and tailed and wing cased with some moose hock Mark sent me more recently. Plays like hares mask, but the guard hairs are much longer. I snipped off some of the tips to cut the length, which is a shame because they have nice coloring.

The second is a caddis pupa made out of bison fur (brown) ribbed and legged and antennaed with bison beard (black), both from Mark. The bison beard is similar to a thin horse hair. It will also make a good woven body material (like horse mane), or midge body material (like moose mane, only shiny black through and through), or maybe the top of a baitfish pattern.  Good stuff. Anyways, the fur is really hard to manage, as you can see, hence the name I gave it.

Nifty bodies.  Did you ever use the template I sent you?  I think I did...   Yours are alots simpler though.

Nice ties Chug that moosing lynx can only get getter as it gets chewed on. Both look buggy.
