    New Trucks

don't be sorry I looked at Toyota hoping they will build a heavier truck. I'm pulling close to 13000 then add the weight of cargo in the truck.

    New Trucks

Yes, but lacks any real combined GVW for towing heavier trailers, as most half tons (150/1500 series) do.

    New Trucks

The only one's I have seen on the lots are north of 85K +++ with all the bell and whistles. I had a chevy Duramax dually I used to pull my personal BEQ a 40' fifth wheel, wish I still had it- no DEF or particulate filter, traded it after I downsized the trailer. Very leery of the new diesel powerplants, all makes, they push plenty of torque but have too many sensors and systems for my liking thanks to the EPA, additionally the maintenance is near impossible to do myself other than lube and tire rotations and possibly brakes. Ford you need to pull the cab off the chassis to do any major service. Looking like I may have to order what I want in a gas truck and wait until it comes in, no reasonable used trucks in my market area with under 150k miles.

    New Trucks

I started looking at new trucks and scared myself. Looked at the Chevy and Ford one tons (still towing) the prices are way higher than I thought they would be for a gas truck of mid trim build (LT/XLT). Hard to find mid trim trucks, a lot of loaded high end diesels around but you need to be a doctor or lawyer to fund one of those 90K and up. The more I look the more I miss my Duramax dually LBZ no particulate filter or DEF fluid respectable milage for what it was. Just ranting
  5. Build it is the best option. Spend some time looking at ideas online then layout what you want from your present tying style I built my first designs out of inexpensive materials after I was happy the bench was made of oak I have modified it a few times.
  6. Nicely tied, Norm how do you handle your chenille do you twist tight or brush it ? it always looks perfect. I wonder if being a southpaw if I am untwisting when I wrap it, just thinking out loud will have to play with it.
  7. Steve, that is a nice picture I can see it winning a contest. Great that you will be getting away from everything for a bit, we all need to find solitude on occasion. Wish you peace and tight lines on your trip. Chris
  8. Quill Gordon Parachute, this pattern is based on my first parachute dry I tied in the 70's using peacock and mallard wing post with Chinese hackle that caught a lot of fish but didn't last long. With UV glue and a bright wing, it is very durable and easier to see on the water. Hook- Mustad 94840, thread- brown, tail- dun microfibetts, body- stripped peacock herl with full herl thorax, wing post- tan poly, hackle- dun.
  9. Mayfly for May after a rainy wet end to April I sat at the bench to concoct an opener for the month. It won't fish well due to the hook, I have had poor experience fishing flybody hooks for drys they are hard to keep on top when a fish does take they often push the fly out of the way with difficult hookups with the designed short hook. Hook- flybody#12, thread- brown, tail- dun microfibets, body- stripped peacock herl (UV covered), wings- buggy tan medallion sheeting, hackle- dun, eyes- melted mono
  10. Nice work and worthy project, anything to get and keep a kid fishing, to many alternatives for them to go down the wrong road today.
  11. Nice wide gap custom hook looks to scarify the bottom for the big ones! Mustad should be ecstatic.
  12. Thanks for the comments I think the 94831 makes it a more manageable tie and aesthetically pleasing.
  13. Net Fly Up as long as we are with Lee Wulff how about his surface stonefly or Del Mazza's parachute stonefly
  14. White Wulff Hook-Mustad 94831, thread- white, tail- calf tail stacked, body- cream dubbing, wing- calf tail stacked and divided, hackle- badger
  15. Light Cahill Quill Body Hook-Mustad 94840, thread- creme, tail- light ginger hackle fibers, body- stripped ginger quill (UV coated), wing- wood duck flank (dyed mallard sub), hackle- light ginger the lighting reflects it more ginger than actual sunlight, my poor camera skills 🙃
  16. Quill Gordon Hook-Mustad 94840, thread- brown, tail- dun hackle fibers, body- stripped peacock herl (UV coated), wing- wood duck flank (dyed mallard sub), hackle- dun

  20. First male red breasted grossbeak and male baltimore oriel at the feeders today, no buntings or hummingbirds yet, waiting for the weather and bird songs for morning coffee on the deck.
  21. Yes a straight shooter, the vise can take a little time to get used to (more the bobbin it will suck the thread in when it breaks and when you cut it, takes a little time to get used to holding a little pressure on the spool to prevent that).Long ago I had tied on an old universal rotary and liked it when I saw the nor-vise it was intriguing, but I was skeptical and happy with the dyna-king pro. I missed the rotary disliked the dyna-king and regal rotary of that time they were lopsided in rotation causing a unbalance. I am a southpaw some vises are not friendly to left-handed tiers Norm was a good salesman (demoed the vise left-handed) and engineer, completely believed in his product, and stood behind everything he said and sold. The fine point jaws, saltwater jaws, and tube fly adaptor where all his design and manufacture when I bought the tube fly adaptor, he improved it a little later and upgraded my kit at a show no charge(mandrels). I was saddened to learn of his terminal illness and passing, happy he finished the small boat he was building and time he spent fishing with his grandchildren. Tim O'Neill is a good man also very pleased he took over the brand kept the quality, US manufacture and developing accessories Norm would approve of.
