  1. Grilled with mustard and sauerkraut I’m good for 5 maybe 6 if there’s no bake beans around. I wonder what place that would finish in.
  2. Parachute adams Hook - 14 Thread - Gray 8/0 Uni Post - White poly yarn Hackle - brown/grizzly Tail - brown/grizzly hackle fibers Body - blue Dunn rabbit dubbing
  3. ^^^^^^^^^ This. Not only is this the cheapest route, I find it to be the most organized “system” and it can be easily expanded when needed. It’s not the most esthetically pleasing system but my wife does not permit me to decorate the public portion of my house with fishing stuff.
  4. Another reason to move to Alaska. I’m sorry, for you alaskan guys I should have said erb garden. I’m forced to stay home more after retiring (twice) and taking a third job with only two weeks off a year. How do people do it? There’s nothing better then a caprese salad made with a fresh Jersey tomato, just plucked basil and fresh mutz from Fiores Italian deli in Hoboken, with the possible exception of a fresh caprese salad stream side while king salmon fishing. I’d say what Angel wants Angel gets.
  5. I like these adaptations. I will try these changes myself as I also find the prince nymph to be one of my most productive fly.
  6. So far so good. I had to make a design change. The original just had the pots hanging from hooks off the metal rings but this let the pot hang at about a 30 degree angle. It looked great but was a pain the butt to water since the water would simply run out of the pot on the lower rim side. I made a new bracket where the top of the pot hands from the rebar from the original hooks but now the bottom has a bar that connects to the hole in the bottom of the pot and holds the bottom out so the pots now sit level and the water no longer runs out one side of the pot. I added two more pots as well.
  7. Maybe I’m wrong but I think most things, not all, marketed as commemorative rarely maintain their value. I can’t see how they will sell them at that price.
  8. Interesting. Different. Well done!
  9. Cased caddis along the lines of a pearl core cased caddis tied by Hans at Dakota Angler. Hook - Size 12 Orvis tactical jig hook Bead - 3/32 slotted tungsten. I dislike the slotted beads I have so I’m just using them up. They are a little small but the larger ones I have slide right off over the hook eye. Thread - Black 6/0 uni Body - Pearl core chenille, head heated with a lighter and colored with a black sharpie Legs - I used pheasant and partridge Case - hares ear dubbing dabbled with sharpies/green pheasant tail/Golden pheasant tail NEXT FLY - PRINCE NYMPH
  10. Not exactly worm colors unless locally you have blue, yellow, pink, chartreuse and orange worms. For 3 bucks I know the canal pickerel and bass will love them. Hook - Size 12 Orvis tactical jig hook Thread - 140 Ultra, red Bead - 1/8th gold/ red glass Body - Ramen noodlies https://www.walmart.com/ip/Nee-Doh-Ramen-Noodlies-Novelty-Gag-Toys/463131494?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&wl13=2096&gclsrc=aw.ds&adid=22222222237463131494_146896390522_19581818075&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=619403230470&wl4=pla-1732116963779&wl5=9007210&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=local&wl12=463131494&veh=sem&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI46Ha4pnk_wIVk-zICh1V2wGpEAQYASABEgKaUvD_BwE
  11. Nothing like a good rain to get the squirmy wormy bite going.

  13. Interesting the different experiences out there. I use mustads almost exclusively. The only time I won’t use mustads is when I go to the shop and they don’t have mustads and I have to buy something else. I have never sharpened a hook, any hook, in my life and I will only buy wiz bang hooks when I absolutely have no other choice and then I’m only buying the minimum I can get away with. I have never ever not hooked or lost a fish because I believed the the hook was not sharp enough. I use the 34007 for big striped bass without ever having a problem. I don’t fish for tarpon so I have no experience there but for striped bass a mustad 34007 hook is the perfect choice. If mustad makes a hook specifically for tarpon then I would have no fears fishing it for tarpon untouched out of the box. I just pulled a 3/0 34007 out of the package and checked the hook point since I don’t think I ever checked a hook point before. Seems plenty sharp to me. Sharp enough to where I’m sure I would only dull it in an attempt to sharpen it.
  14. Nice set ups all around. Welcome!
  15. I hold every rod in my right (strong) hand and reel every reel with my left (weak) hand. I let the rod fight the fish not the reel. I also feel that as far as reeling goes my left hand is my strong reeling hand. It’s all I’ve known.
  16. SE PA is unusually cold with a high of 67 today. I might have to wear long pants for my walk tonight.
  17. Mojo come, mojo go. Mojo works in mysterious ways. Nice trip so far.
  18. Wow, you’re a sailor too! Halibut on the fly is a great catch. Nice trip
  19. Yep, I enjoyed the day but it sure was different. The wife will be home on Friday so I just have to get through a week of Chinese food and Wawa sizzlis.
  20. With my one daughter in Costa Rico, the other in Italy, and the wife in Virginia, I found myself in the precarious position of being alone on Father’s Day. I can’t recall this ever being the case in the past. Not knowing what to do, I grabbed my 6 wt and went to a farther away then normal spot on the local WW creek. Started with poppers, nothing. Switched to clousers, nothing. Tried hoppers, nothing. Went with a chartreuse mop fly with an ice dub collar and gold bead and caught sunnies and rock bass on every cast. Did manage 2 SMB, one going maybe 9” and the other a solid 15” which is a good SMB for this creek. The creek is low, gin clear and filling up with slime fast. We need a good rain to wash it out some and bring the water levels up. Sorry no pictures just a story and a very enjoyable day.
  21. Yeah it’s been like this for a few days now. Coolest sun ever though
  22. This is my neighborhood today in a haze from the Canadian wildfire 500 miles away. Although it looks like it could be the moon, the orange dot in the sky is the sun. Crazy stuff
  23. Hook - 14 2XL Thread - Olive 12/0 Veevus Tail - Wood duck fibers Body - Stripped UV peacock herl/SHHAN Wing - Wood duck Hackle - Dun i really like the green coloring of the stripped UV peacock herl.
