  1. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ This is your friendly neighborhood Swapmeister with your 2-week notice for this swap. Just earning my keep! ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
  2. Welcome back! Don't forget to join a swap or two - it's like WD-40 for the rust build-up from not tying for a while!😉 Kim
  3. I live in a glass house so I'll throw some stones in - BUT VERY GENTLY! Kim
  4. VERY soon! And when someone offers an idea to help out a situation, I will NEVER feel upset with the sender! Kim
  5. What have I heard before -"Life can get in the way of swaps!" - YIKES!! Glad you and your loved ones are OK. Flies look great and I look forward to seeing them. Thanks for hosting another great swap! Kim
  6. A loop of 35# mono is what I usually use to prevent the tail from fouling the hook. Kim
  7. I'd say that I wouldn't be caught DEAD in that! (But I know myself much better than that!ðŸĪŠðŸĨī Kim
  8. I'm one of the swappers and I'm very happy to give my slot up to someone. I've been participating in and hosting swaps now for 12 years). They ARE FUN and a nice way to help develop your tying skills, add to your personal fly pattern database/collection (while also having a tied fly to test drive on your waters!), a nice way to meet some of the fine members of this site, and did I mention FUN! I hope someone reading takes advantage of this fine experience. Kim
  9. If my memory serves me right the dusters come in only white or grey colors (and maybe black). Here's a couple patterns that use those colors. Hare and Herl - a Tennesssee pattern by Warren Patterson Mysis Shrimp - A pattern by Wayne and Kelly Graff, useful in the Great Lakes watershed, it's an invasive species from Europe. Yamamoto's Giant Sowbug - Originated by Satoshi Yamamoto from Livingston, MT Persuader - An English pattern by John Goddard - Ostrich Herl - Originated by Bruce Banks Good Luck! Kim
  10. Welcome to the site! It is loaded with many a fine and experienced tyer, fisher, rod builder and just overall good and helpful folk. I'm a born and bred central NYer. I've been tying flies for over 50 years now and hosting fly swaps for going on 12 years now. So sorry to hear that your materials got wet BEFORE they became flies!! Here is a site that might help you out if you like to tie dries in your area. Tom Deschaie was a fine fisher, tyer, rod builder as well as a fly historian. I became familiar with his fine work as a member of FAOL back in its heyday and this site represents his life's work, I hope that you enjoy it - Fly Patterns (michigandryflies.net). Kim
  11. I'll tie at least one from my Martini series. Kim
  12. I got some mighty fine flies from Woodenlegs in the mail. A great start to this swip! Kim
  13. Bluegill Flies – Texas Flyfishers of Houston - Click on the Squirrelly at the top of the section - just bead chain and squirrel tail! That should meet your needs. Also, my Squirrelly Blond (a variation of the Brook's blond series) could help you out. The many variations of this fly uses DMC metalic floss (found in most stores that sell sewing/needle point supplies) and squirrel tail as the wing and tail material. Kim
  14. You can try a fly swap. Mine are open and designed with the newer tyer and those that wish to improve their skills in mind. I've been tying for over 50 years and hosting swaps for going on 12 years now. Feel free to PM me if you'd like some more info. I'll be happy to help you out. Kim BTW, here is a great site loaded with dry fly patterns from your state -Fly Patterns (michigandryflies.net). Hope this helps you out.
  15. Yep, live and moving! For such small animals with such small feet, they sound like me running in army boots! (only MUCH faster!).🙄 Since they are alive I believe they still have fur on em!!ðŸĪ” Kim
  16. Just 2 more tyers needed to close this swap. Please note the edited rules for this swap - now we need to tie only 6 original and 6 changeling flies for a total of 12 flies for this swap and registration will close at 6 tyers. Kim
  17. I've got some in my attic! I'll split any skins with you!!I could also show your son how to tie UGLY flies! Are you sure that's not a woodchuck with a long tail?? Kim
  18. I guess I'll go with this idea. So the minimum and maximum is the same number. Like I said this is only the 3rd time in 12 years of hosting that I've offered a 2-fly swap and I guess I'm 1,1, and 1 in the wins/losses column. Thanks for helping give this swap a chance to run. Kim
