Nick906 0 Report post Posted December 23, 2022 Hi, Long time user of this site, but I have never had an account. I live in the in the central U.P. where we are getting a pretty nice snowstorm at the moment so it is officially tying season again. Looking forward to seeing what everyone is tying this winter and getting some new ideas. I have been tying for 20 years or so and operate a sporting goods store in the town of Marquette with way to many fly tying materials for a small town. I tie fly's for pretty much everything in Michigan and love tying for trout, bass and musky.

Those are some pretty nice fish and flies there, but damn - that brookie brings tears to my eyes. Has the good Lord ever created a more beautiful creature? WWKimba 0 Report post Posted December 24, 2022 Welcome to the site! You'll be a nice addition to the experienced and fine fisher and tyers already on this site. I'm a born and bred central NYer and have been tying for over 50 years and hosting fly swaps for going on twelve years now. Are you familiar with Tom Deschaine's work on flies and their histories in your state. I first became familiar with Tom's work from my days on FAOL (flytyersonline.com) where he was a regular contributor. He was a high school science teacher in the Weston area until his retirement. He was also and fine fly fisher, tyer, and rod builder. He was also an accomplished fly historian. Tom passed almost 9 years ago, but his site showing his life's work is still available online at Fly Patterns (michigandryflies.net). I look forward to seeing your posts here on the site.
