These should make decent panfish flies. Below is the list of materials the host provided. Hook: #6-18 TMC 5212 or 200R or similar 2x-3x long hook. - I used a similar hook, I think an Ahrex Thread: Fluorescent Fire Orange 70-denier UTC, also used chartreuse Tail: Natural Yearling Elk Hair or deer hair.- I used deer hair Rib: Fine Copper Ultra Wire- knew I forgot something Abdomen: Yellow Antron Dubbing- I used Senyo Lazer Dubbing, yellow and chartreuse Body Hackle: Brown Rooster Neck Hackle Wing: Natural Yearling Elk Hair- I used deer hair Thorax Hackle: Grizzly Rooster Neck Hackle Thorax: Fluorescent Fire Orange Antron Dubbing- I used Senyo Lazer Dubbing, orange and yellow Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I used orange pheasant tail with orange holographic tinsel and green pheasant tail with green holographic. UTC Tail: bronze mallard fibers Abdomen: x-small pearl tinsel wrapped around the body then over-wrapped with brown micro tubing pulled tight Flash:tinsel Thorax: fire brown Hareline STS trilobal dubbing. Hook - standard dry fly, 8-22 Thread - color to match body (light cahill used here) Tail - to match natural (cream used here) Wings - to match, tied as 2 wonder wings (light ginger used here) Hackle - to match, tied parachute (cream used here) Body - natural or superfine to match (light tan used here) This style of fly can represent almost all mayfly species by modifying the color of the materials and size of the hook.
