  1. For a while I made a tray. Was thin ply wood with a lip all the way around and a gap to clamp my vice. Wasn't the most tying space in the world but I could sit with it on my lap. All my materials were in a storage box.
  2. Piker mate, thank you!!! Cheap flash is best flash
  3. So far today. I've tied: Heavy PT nymph variation And:
  4. I've use fly tying scissors x 3 Big pair of scissors for sutting wire etc Thompson whip finisher (which also doubles as a dubbing twister atm) No name bobbin holder No name bodkin Flea comb for brushing out materials
  5. Yeah a Rapala suspending lure. Only time I've let one go is when I got it hung up in the metal work of a pier xD
  6. Last time I got hung up in a tree, was using a hard lure. Wasn't gonna leave £10 of lure up in the tree so I went up after it, slipped, and bust a rib on the landing lol
  7. Been tying a pheasant tail nymph variation. On a curved hook, with an orange coloured dubbing at the thorax and hen pheasant for the thorax cover
  8. Hahaha Bugsy. Just noticed this was for me. Thank you so much
  9. Tried my hand at a traditional style streamer. On 10 x2 length hooks. Rather pleased
  10. I have seen pre dubbed thread spools. I just can't remember where the hell I've seen it. Might be worth looking into, kind of, the best of both worlds?
  11. I've never properly fished for trout lol so I'm in no position to compare. Though when the sun gets on the water a bit I've found for rudd anything small and black does the trick, on the top I've found Diawl Bachs great for Roach too. Same as small GRHE and PT nymphs I've found bigger Roach are partial to Alexandras, same with Tench
  12. I didn't get any pics this time Piker. But when I'm out again, I shall take some
  13. Had my first foray into dry flies at the weekend. The hackle I had on hand wasn't the best quality. But, they floated, and my local Rudd liked them, a lot, this morning.
  14. You just need to tie a Master Splinter now. Radical work dude
  15. I have a random assortment of fly boxes they go into. Mostly foam lined, some with compartments. That's when I remember to put them in said boxes. I have a random selection of flies on my desk that sometimes get stored in my hand.
  16. Thanks Piker I think I got a good length with the tail, not too long but should have decent movement. I'm hoping my local fish think they look good too
  17. Tied up some red tag variants. I call them variants because I didn't have any red wool, so used red marabou for the tail.
  18. Oxygen, I think. It activates it. Scratch that: It's apparently actually moisture. I misremembered
  19. Hey Wavey, you UK based? But yeah, it looked like the brush I have in the lid of my Loon Hard head cement. (which is great when watered right down for soaking into threads) so I thought he decanted it into such a container but as Crackaig says it just harden off and you're knackered. I will have to just choose a new UV resin and go for that again. Yeah I am mate Arse end of Shropshire lol. I think I've got some Loon somewhere. I will try the trick of watering it down
  20. @Piker: I was watching one of Davie McPhail's videos just. And, from what I saw, he uses brush on loctite or Tesco's own. I imagine if he's using a needle to do it. He puts a small puddle out on say a sticky note (that's what I use when model building) and uses a bodkin to apply the glue.
  21. I tried it. Had to extricate a size 10 from my finger. To make matters worse, the blood after I took the hook out spoiled some feathers.
  22. I stil lcan't see how it would be used with two spools :/ Any tension and they would pingout. Unless you put a bitof dowel or summat throughthe middles but it would be easier to spool uptwo bobbins instead. I apologise for anytypos. Been drinkign lol
  23. Bloody freezing, raining, dark and gloomy. The usual UK fare
  24. Prince is such an underrated guitar player! He's really quite awesome.
