Adult Damsel Fly

Dasmel-Fly-Dry.jpg

Hook: #12, dry

Thread: White, 8/0

Tail: Macrame yarn, brushed out,  furled, and hit with black Sharpie

Body/Head: Blue foam

Hackle: Badger, cropped on bottom

Wings: FTD crinkle hair, white

Like the effect of the badger hackle rather than usually used grizzly.

That Black Mamba in a larger size would be a deadly pattern for big tarpon holding in rivers that drain out of the Everglades...  We use something similar -the small one is done up on an Owner Aki 2/0 hook (five to five and a half inches overall) -the big one, six to seven inches long on a 4/0 hook... The gear?  a 10wt for the small size and a 12wt for the large one,  each set up with a full Intermediate fly line...

Yes, I agree, I like how it gives the impression of substance without adding weight.

A couple of CDC ants for the summer season.

Hook- Mustad 94840, thread- tan, body- golden brown dubbing for abdomen shaped to ball tan thread spine with 3 copper Krystal flash legs; woodduck dyed CDC wing with a smaller dubbed thorax in front, fly whipped finish behind thorax on spine.

looks great in other colors to match local ants.
