A decorative wood carving I carved

Love the carving...but that paint job just blows me away. GREAT stuff 👍

Thanks for the compliments. This was carved in tupelo wood and hand painted with acrylics, and powder pigments. The branch and stones were carved from basswood and also painted with acrylics using my airbrush.

The over 20,000 scales were burned in, one by one, with a homemade burning tip.. This carving took 3rd place in the 2023 Ward World Wildfowl Carving Competition. They have a Fish Carving Division every other year. My two other carvings took 1st, a Brown Trout, and 2nd, a Steelhead. But this carving is my favorite.

Absolutely perfect. As someone who airbrushes as well, I want to compliment your airbrush work....but I think I'm even more amazed by the scale texture than anything else. That scale texture is gorgeous!
