Steeldrifter 0 Report post Posted July 5, 2020 Nice. Those bigger ones have some real nice coloration/spots on them.
caloosa bug 0 Report post Posted July 5, 2020 Beautiful trout. A couple casts in the back yard ditch and my daughter wanted to help. I’d cast and she would haul line and pause on command. We caught a couple and had some laughs. All fish were carefully released. Caught this good looking female bluegill this afternoon bank fishing nearby. Yeah, I was really surprised by the coloration on a few of them. Some had bellies so orange I thought they were monster brook trout when they first broke the surface. TIER 0 Report post Posted July 16, 2020 Nice 'bow, GC! I wish they got that big in Valdez. But i am in delta now. And if you didn't know delta is the interior (of course you did, Mark.), and the interior of Alaska is the land of big boys. I suck a trout fishing, and yet i caught a 14 inch trout on ice in 4 feet of water. That's pretty good if you ask me. so hopefully I'll take out a jon boat this summer and rip some lips with my friends.
caloosa bug 0 Report post Posted July 18, 2020 Of course the day after I post a pic from a couple years ago of a mudfish caught on conventional, I catch one on fly.

caloosa bug 0 Report post Posted July 18, 2020 Correct, it is a bowfin. A native species that has been around since the Jurassic period. Good sport it was. Certainly not the target species, but an exciting bycatch on fly.
mikechell 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2020 Love catching Bowfin on a fly. Rare, but tons o' fun. That's a nice one, too.
