mikechell 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2017 I don't know about hellgrammites, Bo ... but THAT thing will scare the little fish away, so only the big ones will eat it.
Chuck McFarlane 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2017 My attempt on a hellgrammite. KIMG0037.JPGKIMG0038.JPG Awesome hellgrammite Powershooter. Do you have a materials list or even better SBS? That fly really looks the part. Nice work.
Powershooter 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2017 Made it for those channel cats Mike . I can work on a SBS . Just made it yesterday, didn't have a recipe. It's a product of tinkering , lol . Thanks.
Chuck McFarlane 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2017 Cheers Powershooter. Take your time. Got a lot of great ideas from your pics especially your choice of hook, biots and hackle. I'm going to try and incorporate some of that into my existing patterns and feed em to smallmouth come early spring.

Saltybum 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2017 Johnny, that is one beautiful fly. One of my favorites for our jumbo seatrout. Mine are no where near as nice as yours but they are effective gator getters. Would love to field test it for you but unfortunately a nasty algae bloom last spring did terrible things to our fish populations in the Indian River lagoon. Hoping this spring and summer are better than last year.
